The reason sales are not impacted (yet) could be most people simply don't know about this.....

And 99% of people most likely never will to be honest.

Most 960 and 970's are sold in gaming PC's, to the same kind of customers who were buying into machines of old with the whole this system has 8GB of graphics memory, but 2GB is real and 6GB is system........

Then a lot of gamers, are not enthusiast like you, me and others here, they buy a card because they see it in a webshop or on the shelf in a shop, install it, load up GeForce experience and that is it for them.

The people such as us who are posting here is a small percentage of the total market for these products.

£100 dream on.....really a 970 trounces any of the 'mid range' offering going new for £150 plus. Anyone selling for £100 is a fool

A popular high street electronic second hand store will currently pay you £174 CASH or £210 trade in for a 970 without the hassle of paying to post/package and dealing with chancers/time wasters on auctions sites.... go on look it up

Stop talking nonsense

the other cards dont have a rubbish reputation, even if this reputation is justified or not............ because MUD STICKS

i wouldn't give you 100 quid for this card after reading this lot....£174 in a 2nd hand junk shop is different, but that's not what most of us will do here, we'll try and sell them on E Bay or MM :D:D

this card will only be worth something 2nd hand if Nvidia fix it via a patch/ drivers whatever, if not it'll always be seen as a card with DODGY RAM, steer well clear of it

This isn't the only forum with a mooassive thread on this subject.

Or most normal people don't care and don't spend 18 hours a day arguing in threads like this, all they want to do is use their cards for gaming.:)

That because there are not really many threads like this.
Im more for making sure something like this does not happen again and that AMD dont start getting any bright ideas for doing the same.

If we all kept quiet you can be damn sure NV would do it again.

I don't care what you would pay. Why on earth would you sell for something on the MM or an auction site for not far of half what you could get from a trip to the high street when you have factored in postage and any auction fees.

You claimed a used 970 was currently 'worth' £100. I pointed out that you are talking absolute rubbish and demonstrated this with a currently advertised buy price. The claim that you would not pay 100 for a 970 really is neither here nor there... someone else will clearly pay (far) more right now

The point he is making is that the vast majority of pc gamers probably dont even go on forums to discuss buying hardware, they just read a couple of reviews and then buy something and never look back

My missus plays loads of games but she couldnt care less what hardware its running, the only specifications she cares about is if it will run X game and that the case is pink

If you read my thread, I mentioned TAM, total available market share. Forums and enthusiast are a sales percentage, which make up part of that TAM.

The bigger shares than us enthusiast are SI and regular B2C sales, they are huge in comparison.

Do you think DELL by 1000pc of 970 at a time, or Best Buy buy 1000pc at a time, these are your monsters and alone can account for more sales of a GPU than all enthusiast together.

Forums are great and they can help get results and help with sales but the share they make up on the TAM is quite small.
