I love G-Sync and if it were true and did work on desktop monitors without needing the FPGA controller, I would be very happy. More G-Sync users would be happier gamers.

Asus have a G-Sync laptop, so getting this working on a non Asus G-Sync laptop tells me there is a different way of using the eDP and they have added a controller to the GPU to run it. We know that the eDP was how AMD found out that they could run it about a year ago.

I personally have no interest in 4k myself as the range of cards to handle it is so small and you need several to run it. But as others have said, it depends on the games you play. Myself im an fps fan, still only at 1200 res where the cards I own do grand in what I play, and will also be ok at 1440p. Its not a great time in the gpu market for upgrading for someone like me. Nothing is a big enough improvement over what I have. Hopefully the next round of cards can change this. Though tbh I'm sceptical.

for me, 4K is no good until there's a 4k tv that's better than my Panasonic 55''.......that wont be for another year yet

in addition, there's not enough accurate texturing and detailing in a current PC game for a 65'' 4k OLED, you'll notice loads of detailing that looks totally naff

we dont have the PC power for this next huge leap forward

Not if you just spent 650 quid on a rog and your mate was getting a similar experience on a monitor costing half that ....it's not on IMO.

I would have paid the £700 for 1440P and 144Hz. G-Sync is a sweet bonus.

Sweet. What current monitors is it working on?

It's coming soon...and I'm not willing to upgrade yet until the new monitors hit the scene as shown at ces ...so I'm fine waiting....

Maybe I'll have money spare to spend on more gpu power ;)

Hi all,

I just sent back my 2x 970s for a refund. It cost me £30 to have it signed for and insured. Do I go about claiming that back off OCUK now or after the RMA is complete?

Thanks.

PS: Great work by OCUK dealing with this situation.

but if you hang around here too long you'll become a Manic Depressive ;)

it's time for some good news !

this thread is a bit of a roller coaster ride, first you hear the 970's are fine for years to come and I feel quite pleased with myself and then you hear 970 sli is no good for 1400p and I feel like topping myself

Sending my 2 G1's back and getting 2 KFA2 980 HOF's tomorrow aslong as snow doesn't effect the delivery :D

Thanks Overclockers you really are the best site to use for pc components :D
