970's having performance issues using 4GB Vram - Nvidia investigating

Been having a look at the 290x etc and thinking about a return.

But for me the killer feature is the Nvidia software as much as the hardware. For example Game works is a massive apeal to me as well asadaptive vsync.

More VRAM is more important than game works imo. Though it depends how long you plan to keep the card for.

I really despise technologies such as Gameworks - imagine NVIDIA have their way and it finds itself in every triple A game released - it would effectively remove AMD from the GPU industry, leaving NVIDIA as the sole provider.

Imagine prices of new GPU's if that were to happen. We'd also get 5% increases per generation, just as Intel can get away with now, since they have no competition CPU wise.

the 970s play Dieing Light easily, there's no stuttering whatsoever and deffo no slowing down of the FPS, this goes to show how bad Far Cry 4 is.

i'm glad i didn't RMA my cards, there's nothing wrong with them at all

Thanks for letting me know, wonder if there is a way we can insist on a full refund considering they messed up.

Well its worth a try insisting but seeing it has taken this long to pull there act together i very much doubt it...But they should cover it at least as yes you right its there mess....(Well Nvidia's).

Dieing Light? Small patch 2 days ago took memory usage for me from 3.55GB to 3.45GB. I wonder if Nvidia got in touch with them as a GameWorks title developer. Stutter has dropped signifficantly as a result but still the odd slow down to single figures persists when it pops over the 3.5GB mark. Should say I am running at 1440p.

I can only see these problems getting worse as DX12 gives more access to hardware. Gone from great card to fail.

Waiting to see if Nvidia will make another announcement before returning my MSI. Considering a 980 atm but without Adaptive Sync support its hard to justify the price.

What do you mean by the lack of adaptive sync support...?

The trouble is it's not a very good game, i'm getting fed up with it already it feels very retarded, all you do is bash them over the head all the time, it's so damned boring and finally, there's way way too much climbing.

but the game plays perfectly on 1080p i havent seen a single fault in it yet.
so i dont know what's going wrong with you guys, because my game/ 970s are perfect... there's no problem with a RAM limit at all, in fact, it's one of the most bug free games i've ever played.

You've quoted a guy who's playing at 1440 who's having problems at times with slow downs which I also seem to have.

You play at 1080 so that's probably why you aren't having the same problem.

well, i'd still rather have my cards than a 290X ............lets hope the 380X is much better

Same here, playing at 1080p no issue at all, I am generally VERY picky about this things however (Despite Nvidia lied) there are no better cards for the money, the 290x is a power hungry card and heats like a BBQ, if the 300 was around then different story.

IMHO

Thats like saying the GTX 780TI was power hungry and heats like a BBQ.

My 290 uses 290 Watts with a 20% overclock and run's at 68 to 70c

And the Point is which ever metrics NV is better at, at any given time is the most important no matter how small as that's a common trait as people try to justify having to pay more for there brand preference and will use any excuse and reason possible instead of at admitting that they just prefer a brand and even when there are valid reasons they seem to get perpetuated well past there sell by date when they are no longer valid.

A friend of mine who had only been using NV up until last year who is now running a 280x and one of my old 7950s in CF who is now over the moon told me that what did it for him was the look of NVs website and NVs CP 2 things he hardly ever went into which are superficial reasons for paying a hefty premium for equal or even less performance, which is basically marketing and image perception and association but most will never admit to it, where the hell are my Nikes, i cant be seen without my Nikes.
