9900k / 9700k or something else

Well I think this has got way off topic ROFL I am asking about best cpu for gaming ONLY will be at 1440p and I would like to use it for at least 4 / 5 years thanks

No-one can tell you what the situation in 4-5 years will be, best is also a subjective term... this is why it's always going to be a difficult question to answer.

Given what we've seen so far from the Ryzen benches, if money no object then 9900k will currently give you the highest frame rates in the majority of games assuming your GPU is sufficiently powerful to keep ahead. If money (and indeed other factors such as power consumption, heat and so on) are a factor, then the 3700X looks to be a good contender for "best" in my completely subjective opinion.

The next gen consoles are using an 8C/16T AMD Zen2 CPU - I some how think a Ryzen 7 3700X or Ryzen 9 3900X is going to be fine going forward in the next few years. Its not like its actual single core performance is lower in non-gaming benchmarks.

I k ow they said there using Zen 2 8 core cpu but no one has said 16threada though the consoles will be steeight 8 core

It most likely will be 8C/16T. All the rumours and leaks said 8 cores and 16 threads for yonks beforehand, and consoles have used SMT before in the past. Apparently it will be clocked at 3.2GHZ or thereabout.

The Core i9 9900K pricing should drop IMHO. Intel segmenting HT makes no sense in 2019.

This is kind of why I stumped up for the 3900X over the 3700X.

The Core i9 9900K pricing makes no sense,so 5%,10% more for 41% over the Ryzen 7 3700X. At least the Ryzen 9 3900X,is 50% more cores for 50% more money.

I assume going 2080ti will still be the better option for the upcoming build as looking at the new amd goes they still seem to be miles behind nvidia?

.

They have talked about it yea but can u see amd Sony and ms all sharing the costs to efectly put a downclocked 3700x and a gpu (well apu) 8 core 16 thread cpu 8gb ddr 6 ssd drive blu ray drive etc and keep a good entry lvl price point of let’s say 399 to 449.99 ? They have only officially said 8 core zen 2 cpu

I'd probably say wait for the 2080 super, should be somewhere between 2080 and 2080Ti but for not quite such ridiculous money... Don't think the 2080Ti will even come close to being worth the extra outlay in terms of performance benefit unless it gets a price drop when the 2080 super comes out (23rd July I believe).

Might be more?? Could be two versions for all we now?? AMD is using one chiplet, and its next year. Yields should be very good by then. A single chiplet is only 70MM2~75MM2.

not really the intel chips are still faster in gaming. anyone suggesting otherwise is talking bs.

if you do other than just gaming fine. but gaming intel has the upper hand still. cinebench LOL if you buy a cpu based on cinebench you need you head looking at.
Don't argue with the amd fanboys trying to justify their purchases I bet most of them are disappointed that intel is still faster in games who cares if they can print something out a bit faster whoopee do.

intel are faster in games but the new amd cpus are great i will probably buy one myself of the new amd cpus once i figure out a nice bundle. leaning towards the 3700x but...the heart is saying go for the 12 core for video work :D

Eh? Its posts like these that keep me entertained on these forums....You clearly have no clue what you are on about...

I'm waiting in the wings to quash your rhetoric....:p

If you was going to do a new build now what cpu would you go for, this is just for a pure gaming build no streaming or anything like that.

Thanks
I'm in a similar position to you although I also do a fair pit of photo processing for which Intel is still the best. I'll probably plump for the 9700K.

You do realise he bought a Core i9 9900K a few months ago,right?? :p

What do you use?? I use DxO with the Prime Noise reduction - it uses all threads, which can still take minutes complete. I looked at some reviews, and the Ryzen 5 2600X was within 10% of a Core i8 8700K!

I start off in DXO (isn't Prime great!) and then export into LR then finish up in PS. If I'm doing batch processing in DXO (8 photos at the same time) then I've got a 24core 48 thread machine that I will use which works out quicker but for single photos then the higher clock speed generally wins out by quite a bit. If you get a Ryzen then I'll send you my RAW file (with my preset) so you can tell me exactly how long it takes. ;)
