A battlefield2 thread

Just played it and i like it.

I don't know if it's the games age or my aiming is off, but i swear i'm hitting people and nothing is registering when my cross hair is over the enemy, but i killed 6 people (mainly from point blank) and had 2 deaths.

Either way, i'm keeping this installed, plenty of servers and the population is better than Battlefield 3's currently.

Edit: I see they're reviving Battlefield Heroes, loved that game.
 
I think I will give this a try as I was a console peasant when this came out and never even knew it existed! Especially as it is now free. I might even give it a whirl on my XP retro PC ;)

I'm a night owl but I'm on at the weekend. Also I have no mic and I'm not as good as I remember. Although I still managed to fly the helicopter with backwards control. Need invert on, or off, I can never remember.

Last time I played this was with a Athlon K6-2 and even with 1000RPM raptor HD it still took 10 minutes to load the server.

Takes less than 30 seconds now :P

That's why my mate who's never played it hated it haha.... You need to unlock the PKM for support and G6C3 (cant remember the name) for the medic.... Then when you burst fire slightly flick the mouse in the direction he's running!

NExt time you're on Wes give me a shout on steam and i'll keep you alive haha!

Also, yeah hero's was absolutely epic... Tho its bitter sweat seeing that, lost my best mate 3 months ago and Hero's was that one game we utterly smashed.

Yeah get on it man... Its like a proper retro game, everytime I play it literally takes me back to 2006 when the wife and I first bought our house (before stinking kids) and I'd spend HOURS in my man cave on this!

yeah the hit registration can be off sometimes, also you need to tap the kneel button as you shoot, kneel and shoot at same time repeatedly. It can increase your accuracy. It took me six months to get used to the hit reg. Also you need to Google something called bf2 optimisation and read the guide. There is one option on there, forgot right now, that will help if you set it close to your ping. But persist with the game the fluidity and speed of the game play is unmatched and combined with difficult hit ref it makes an excellent game. bf3,4 feel sluggish compared to this.

currently my main computer is down but when I fix it I will be back. If you go over to super@infantry forum and register there and introduce yourselves. the super servers are the best admin monitored. They are uk based servers if I'm not wrong.

I am going to see if we can organise with one of the super servers a team play server once or twice a week. Will let you all know what happens.

but glad more people are playing the gam3, the graphics are dated but game play and fun in bucket loads.

Sorry I can't come in tonight mate, my pc is dead and I've had no time to fix it, I'm using my tablet mostly. But will be inline when I get it back and will organize something.

I'll have time to play over the weekend, as i'm on a late shift this week so i don't get home until 8.30pm.
 
I reckon a lot of people who've only played newer BF games, won't like the slower gameplay, longer travel times to getting into combat etc, but those are all the things that made it and BF1942 great.
Only being able to respawn on your squad leader should still be the default way of things, and even having a stamina bar allowing you to sprint but only short distances helps pace the gameplay much better than the more arcadey style we have now. Plus the huge maps were great.

I have a weekend off coming up, so i'll play if you're about or if anyone else is.

count me in but might not be able to play for another few weeks. Would love a ocuk team.

the game is becoming ever more popular and it loks like more servers are being added all the time. Few years ago after EA pulled the game servers you were lucky to have 2 servers half full now you have quite a few servers full all the time 24-7 round the clock.

hopefully the game will be alive for many years. I am surprised we don't see more Asian players and servers, its predominantly America's a and Europe.
