How much did that cost/what's the battery life meant to be like?

Uninstall, clean your registry and temp files etc and the folders the game creates in My Documents. Install again.

Like I said...

...I uninstalled the game - removed everything related to BF2 from the registry and then rebooted for a re-install - now I try and install BF2 again and and after the initial loading bar it just go's back to windows.!!!!!!

im using onboard (nf7-s v2) and it works fine. the following might sort it

remove BF2, profiles and anything battlefield in regedit.
uninstall Nvmixer
uninstall NVIDIA drivers -just sound driver
restart
update cats to latest
restart
sound should be detected -install drivers and nvmixer
restart
install BF2 and 1.2 patch then 1.3

play

may work may not, its more or less what i had to do. I used to be able to play with high textures but now its a slideshow at the start. but ive also been trying to get it going with my audigy2zs so have tried about 10 different drivers sets with it. then disabling and enabling things in bios, assigning irq's to different slots.
works ok now though with 1.3 patch and onboard sound in medium textures (no jerk o vision)

spec is the following-
NF7-S rev2
2x1gb geil value
2400xp@2145mhz (195x11)
9800pro@411core, 351mem
a £22 case/psu combo, with metal hanging out
Thanks for reply, I've pretty much done all of the above, with the one exception of installing the 1.01 patch aswell just to be sure, but I haven't tried skipping and going straight for 1.02, would that make a difference?

'install BF2 and 1.2 patch then 1.3'

the 1st patch was bugged, the second was a fixed copy of that as I understand it. Forget the 1st patch.

Ive never installed it anyway

This is ******** ridiculous.. so many people complaining of similar problems on the EA Forums and just about every BF forum out there and I'm reading loads of complaints about lack of reply from the "Submit a question" support..

Your crash to desktop sounds me to me like the classic wrong refresh rate crap that BF games have all suffered. Try running your desktop at 1024x768 60hz, just to see if that works. Also, if its crashing just after start, maybe your disk is nackered on the protection bit, you could try downloading a clone cd image of one of the disk and use that with daemon tools, instead of your original dvd.

I thought geiger had cracked it when he mentioned the patch instal sequence.
Did you try this as he was correct in saying instal game patch 1.2 then patch 1.3.
If not Lanz is also correct so try this and let us know how you get on there must be something we can do.

Can anybody tell me why i keep being disconnected after about a minute of playing online and also i keep getting a message from ea saying update to 1.3 patch which i have already done can this be stopped cuz it might be why i get disconnected.

thanks

got it working \o/

not sure if it was the patch order or the refresh rate as I did both at same time. Didn't need to change res though (am on 1280)

wright i updated punkbuster as instructed no luck im afraid still got disconnected but just after being disconnected the stupid ea message appears this is causeing my problems im sure of it does anybody else get this.

Don't worry there'll be a patch out to sort the patch that sorted the patch that didn't sort the patch. (legally used i think ;) :p )
MMMMmmmmmmm I'm caught in the Twilight zone of patchness.

Thankfully mine works fine. Just keep posting and between us we will sort it.

Yesterday i switched to the 5.9 Omega drivers and stopped using Ati tool for fan control. Drivers are the best i have had, Period. Never before have i noticed such a big improvement. It ran sweet as before it just runs/looks/loads better now.
Because of the Ambient temp drops i have done away with ATi tool freeing resources. Depends on your Ambients whether you can do this but the Omega's are definetly worth a go.
