A battlefield2 thread

There's something missing in BF2 and I can't figure out what it is: it's got to do with those desert maps and the kinda fights I had in Desert Combat; might go back to installing DC for a while actually....

any new on Desert Conflict for BF2 yet, that would be nice to have...

I just bought SF from EA installed the downloader and when i went into the downloader it says the date it will be coming out which was the 25th (even tho i though it was today) but on the tab it said ready to download so i click on that and its downloading it...... will it work?? or when its downloaded i can only play it on realease date?? many thanks

It says that those are only issues that have been forwarded to the developers, not ones they've fixed, so I imagine we've got a good 5-10 patches to go before they're all sorted.

I love the way they list fairly major issues as "stuff we won't do anything about because not enough people mentioned it"

Posting that confuses things. That isn't the patch, or what is included in the patch. It purely a summary of comments made after the release of patch 1.03 to be passed onto the developers in a hope that they will implement them for the next proper patch.

The patch released today/tomorrow (1.12) is 280MB and I pretty sure it doesn't contain very much, except a few fixes to get BF2 and BF2:SF working together in harmony. The release notes are on battlefield2.nl, but unless you can translate Dutch to English, your stuck. However it doesn't take a genius to see there's very little in it.

My mistake, it was what they are aiming for, patch is out on some sites already but I'll wait till they officially release it.

Oh my God. While this is a good set of notes for a patch...

#20 - [GAMEPLAY] Jets/choppers reload too quickly. Should have to land and stop completely to reload.

Just nerf air combat, why don't you, EA.

Sounds good to me. A decent pilot can rack up 100+ points easy most rounds, they need to slow em down. Anyway, they are just ideas the community wants, not what's actually going to happen.

A decent trench fighter can rack up 100 points in a round too especially if in a squad, I think the game is balanced enough as it is. Jump on some AA if you want to get revenge it works pretty good now if you fire just after their flares are released.

edit:
Just unlocked the engineers shotgun and its a great gun, real compact powerfull fire that runs out way too quick  Like a more extreme version of the AT unlock gun imo

Take Wake Island for example, completely unbalanced with a lack of effective AA. I really don't see the problem with aircraft actually having to land to reload? Other maps aren't so bad as they're more spread out and not as easy to fly the same circuit on. The mobile AA is woefully underpowered, you're better of using the jeeps with .50cal for AA defence...

Geiger - are you using a no dvd patch with v1.03?

Once I updated to that version it refused to work with the patch - it's such a pain inserting the dvd each time!

Yep, latest patch. Have to see how it goes with the very latest one just released but I think they only changed stuff to do with SF.

Edit
copy and paste from another forum -
Patch v1.12 Changelog
=================================================

IMPORTANT

- If you have installed the 1.12 patch to core Battlefield 2 and then installed Battlefield 2: Special Forces, you will need to re-apply the 1.12 patch again to be able to play on 1.12 Servers.

BUG FIXES

- Fixed a crash when users switch weapons using the mouse wheel while piloting a bomber (SU-34, F-15 and J10) in core BF2 maps.
- Removed the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line from kits from "The Iron Gator" map.
- Fixed single player loading screens to match map selection image.
- Fixed an issue in the menus so that users can click on BF2:SF ribbons to view the descriptions.
- Fixed an issue in the Browser so that BF2:SF servers are now represented with a green "2" icon.
- Global improvement of collision detection on the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line.
- Fixed damage state artillery icon on the 3d map when an artillery is destroyed.

CHANGE of VIDEO SPECS

- GeForce FX 5900 family:
GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
GeForce FX 5900
GeForce FX 5900XT
GeForce FX 5950 Ultra
GeForce FX 5900ZT
GeForce PCX 5900
- For these cards, the default video settings have been changed to LOW.

UPDATE TO GRAPPLING HOOK AND ZIP LINE DESCRIPTION

GRAPPLING HOOK

- The GRAPPLING HOOK is part of the Assault and Anti-tank kits. Throw it using the fire or alternate fire buttons. Press "E" to get on and off of the rope. Use the direction keys to climb the rope. The rope will connect to any static object in the world, which means it will not work on terrain or vehicles. Any Assault or Anti-Tank kit can pick up any grappling hook, even those from other teams, as long as you do not already have one in your kit at the time.

ZIP LINE

- The ZIP LINE is part of the Special Forces and Sniper kits. Use the fire button to shoot the line and use the alternate fire button to check if the target is a viable connection point or not. Once the line is in place, use "E" to get on. You will slide down the line automatically. Any Spec-Ops or Sniper kit can pick up any zip line, even those from the other team, as long as you do not already have one in your kit at the time.

Also of note for the Special Forces expansion pack, from battlefield2.com:

Special Forces Unlocks
In anticipation of the upcoming expansion pack, Battlefield 2 Special Forces, DICE has revealed the new unlocks for the game. Take note, in order to unlock these, you must first have unlocked the base Battlefield 2 weapons for that kit (for example: to be get the F2000 the user must first unlock the G3).
Scar-L for Spec Ops
G36E for Medic
F2000 (w/ grenade launcher) for Assault
MP7 for Engineer
MG36 for Support
