Well if it's ranked , then that opens up a whole load of problems. People will start making all sorts of servers , normal server just no jets allowed etc , or more pistol/knife. As EA/Dice whatever have always said they aint allowed as the ranking system has to be on a level playing field. Then they turn round and say infantry only ranked.

Not really bothered if it's ranked or not , just can see it causing probs if it is.

Although would be nice to see it unranked just to see if all the people who say they want infantry only because it's "fun" , will play , or if it's really about no tanks=more points.

Well no, it is an option that u can set in the server software. So its EITHER normal Bf2 OR Infantry only, its not the server admins actually stopping people using vehicles, the vehicles arent there full stop when the map loads.

I want IO because its fun, but i also want it ranked. I hate the ranking system, it is the root of 99% of BF2's problems (stats padders, increase in cheating, teamkilling for vehicles to name but a few) and to be frank i find it rather worrying that such a large proportion of people are so bothered about fictional points and medals. Fair enough looking at them now and again out of curiosity (seeing what your accuracy is for example) but to actively aim to improve them is rather sad.

The reason i want it ranked is two fold, mainly because unranked servers sit empty, people simply dont play them (mainly because a majority want points, or medals thus there isnt enough people to actually get a game going in the first place) People like to be able to track stats, even if they actually mean nothing purely to see how they're doing. Secondly, as a server admin you always want to see the servers full, empty servers are simply money seeping away and again, unranked servers sit empty the vast majority of the time.

I know that , how ever it's still not a level playing if it's ranked. Some people playing oh lets say karkand on infantry only , no tanks or other vehicles to contend with. People playing it normally have to contend with tanks and apc's.

Hardly a level playing field across the rankings unless they make a infantry only seperate ranking.

Why the hell can I never connect to a server when I put in an I.P? It always says 'Failed to connect, check your network settings'. Sometimes, after trying a couple hundred times it'll let me in, but most of the time it won't. So annoying...

Hey I just recently got back into bf2 again and I got a new sniper unlock. No not the M24 another one. I forgotten its name and I am trying to look up some info of the pros and cons of this rifle (stats) versus that of the m24, m95 etc.

Anyone able to help?

If i sell my BF2 Game, can the person buying it use it online etc? What do i need to do?

If you sell them the disc, you'll need to give them the serial key. Then you'll need to uninstall it as only one person can log on using the same serial at any one time.

The playing field will be more level in IO, IMO. I have a much better fragrate in America's Army because being bombed or artilleried is not an option. The fact that u cant hear a jet (after being at probably more than 10 airshows is ridiculous). With the confines of the map you should be able to pin point a jet.

I dont know how modern commanders operate but in every single film Ive seen its been groud troops that have called in for artillery or airstrikes. Also SAM sites would be the first thing targeted and no plane would be in the vicinity if they didnt already have air superiority.

Its so rare that I get into a jet or be a commander nowadays that it I really dont care if the people who like to be at the top of the scoreboard with 3 deaths in a round dont get to play on the server Im on.

Tempted to keep the game now! Just re-installing it and patch after formatting PC today. Give it another go.

Disable VOIP if you have any 'connection to server lost' messages after reinstalling and patching...

I dont think IO makes it unfair on those playing on servers with tanks if they were both ranked. You might be going up against tanks, but those tanks will be up against other tanks playing on a non-io server, so they cancel out...

I dont think people tk for vehicles because of points either tbh... I think people tk for vehiclesbecause its fun flying jets tbh. I will never tk some unless they did it to me to steal a jet previously, but tbh, some of the time i dont do whatever to get the plane because i know i will lose points! Sometimes i would so love to pilot the bomber with a decent co-pilot but i just cant get in the jet!

That is the only problem with bf2 in my opionion, the fact that you can't always play the game you want to. Sometimes i want to blast around in a jet, sometime i want to play infantry with a great squad on sharqi, sometimes i want to cruise around dalian in a chopper, or a tank on karkland. You have to find a server which is playing the right map, hope your team havent lost the main base, and hope you can get in your vehicles without someone else 'stealing' it!!!

Its not like most other games where you can just fire it up to what you want to play....

i love BF" but it drives me so mad sometimes, i get on a server only for it to crash to desktop, is this a problem with the 1.3 patch as i'm sure its only happened since then :mad:

yes it sure is a problme with the 1.3 patch, drives me insane, game crashes, server crashes you name it, EA manage to screw it up. They really should leave things alone.

also you cant see any of the server address when you click on them apart from a few, sort it EA

-------CAN anyone else log on now ??? I cant,,, tried everything, rebooting etc, nothing, double click the BF2 icon on desktop and then when it gets to the screen with your ingame name and you click login, it just keeps attempting to log in. doesnt go any further, was fine yesterday ?

thats a very good team work based server to play on

(when in server list, sort servers alphabetically, and then scroll down to multiplay uk and find the 50k ones.

i cant get on also this happened last month think it only goes down for a hour or so then come back on :confused:
