hmm just logged on quickly, i have more than the points needed for promotion but no promotion still :(

Must be something up wth the stats.
 
AlfCheesey i see from your pictures you have shadows on during play.
this does make the game look nice, but puts you at a disadvantage because at certain distances you cant see the enemy hiding.
try switching them off for optimal vision especially if your sniping :)

Thanks for that tip! - I thought after my re-install things weren't quite as clear as before!
 
Well its only multiplay servers hosting the mod, maybe its because poiint of existance was released and all the servers have changed to hosting that.

It takes a while for the stat server to update. When the server updates then the promotion and the unlocks will kick in.

Sometimes it a PITA but usually it will update within 12 hours or less.

Although the other night when everyone was private that was kinda cool I thought.
 
anyone any other tips like turning the shadows off?

Ive got shadows off, draw distance up to 100% and 4xAA on full Res and i am still being killed by people just outside my field of vision.

Everything else is up full.

2gb Ram and a 7800GTX

when u say outside your field of vision, if you have 100% draw distance it should all be equal.
have the geometry setting on high so distant objects are drawn in detail, something you should defo do if a sniping.
effects should be min medium/high so draw trails from rockets are longer , hence easier for you to pin point the enemy position.

Anyone got any tips for flying jets with a keyboard and mouse?

I've really started to get into flying today (Got my Aerial service ribbon today :D )

I can't seem to make sharp turns to evade missiles and stuff. Bombing isn't too bad now but I'm still finding it hard. I usually fly down to bomb a few people then crash into them 'cause I can't pull up in time. :o
 
ive just started playing again with my new pc (1gb geil ddr2, gigabyte ds3, x1800xt, [email protected]) but i sometimes get CTDs and also the names on the score board, the icons showing nearby medics and using sights on guns all show as black squares, im using 6.8 drivers

You need to use the rudder and bank at the same time to turn sharply, that's why most use a jokstick, it's easier.
 
BF2 Official servers gone.

Sorry to start a new thread just at the official one has so many things being discussed at once.

I have not played for about a week but when I came to play over the last two days it seems very light on servers. All the EA UK official servers have vanished. Many of the other public servers I use are no longer running. I had a look on the multiplay forum and there doesn't seem like much of an explanation? One guy said they are no longer in use and something about a sticky. I scoured them and found nothing.

Anyone know whats happening? Or is EA winding down support already.
 
Hi guys,

Not sure if you can help at all, I did a fresh install after getting my new ATI X1900XT card and then installed BF2 and when I double click the icon on my desk top my screen goes black and nothing happens??

I have tried a re-install but got the same issue? I have to press and hold power button to reboot after that, my NEC has a constant blue LED light which means the screen is on and displaying, but nothing happens?

Never had any issues with installing BF2, could anyone offer some advice on this please :( I'm using the lastest Cat display drivers!!

Was looking forward to seeing BF2 on my shiney new card today....!!

Edit: Can anyone confirm that 1.3 full is the only update I need to apply once BF2 is installed?
