A fair comparison. PS3 vs 360 price.

Uh, I was taking the mickey. There's a lot of people trying to justify the high price in that way, without realizing that, well, you can't get them separately. You're still paying a hefty price for the console.

uh, well you were actually right on the button so i wont take offence;) lots of people HAVE bought it because its a damn fine bluray player/console/ media machine all in one. it hasnt got the media capabilities yet, but thats only software.

Bought one because it was touted as the Next Big Thing.

And yes I am trying to sell it, but nobody wants to touch it. Hmmmmm I wonder why.

you dont know? its because of the price (hint: sarcasm). offer it for the price of an xbox, you'll get rid of it soon enough ibet;)

HD DVD player?

Maybe it's not needed, But when it's removed, The comparison won't work, due to the fact PS3 is capable of more

Thats really the whole point though aint it ? not all of us want those things hd/blueray i have no interest of playing hd stuff its called choice, i just seen a 360 brand new with 6 games on fleebay going for £285 you just can't match the price atm.

But you went off finding a list to compare the consoles, I'm guessing you added the live because it's free on PS3.

I'm guessing you added the play and charge kit because it comes built in to the PS3 pad

So if you want to keep the comparison fair, then surely the console also needs a HD disc format

That peson has 94.4% feedback!!!

Not really as you comparing it to somet you have no choice in getting, you stuck with blueray no matter, i wouldn't go buy a 360 and a hd-dvd as i don't want one, i can see where you coming from though btw but the point i trying to make is i don't want or need one.

then the 360 becomes worth what you pay. But so does the PS3.

Look at the price of Bluray players, and then look at the price difference between the 360 without a HD media, and the PS3 with Bluray built in.

Good value for money, if you put it into perspective.

I want a PS3, I've been playing one for ages, And i love it. I want a 360, I've been playing one for ages, and yet again I love it.

My first actual purchase is going to be the xbox 360, Without HD-DVD. because it's Cheap, And has more games i'm personally wanting to play.

But it doesnt stop me seeing the PS3 as a bargain, Even though it's expensive

I will get a PS3 at some point like i say 6 months down the line when there are some games actually worth buying and the console price may be cheaper the way things going they will have to lower its price.

I won't be buying it for blueray it will just be for a gaming platform hence why i don't need one atm as the 360 has a far superior games line up. Anyway enough of this or it will go on all day.lol, both consoles will have great games/bad games and most of us will own both enough said.

yeah, but it's already obvious that the Ps3 will have more good games, and the Xbox 360, more bad.

JOKES! agreed, Both consoles will be great :D

At the end of the day, they are two different consoles. They cost a different price. Whats the big deal?

Go and put some games in whichever you own, and play them. ;)

I honestly don't see why this keeps coming up, overall it's down to choice, if you don't want the 360 to play dvd's or hd movies and this and that or use wired controllers and ics rather than wifi then it works out so much cheaper.

In the end both consoles have their pros and cons, so either way it doesn't matter.

I'll have both in the end, but atm the ps3 just doesn't cut it considering the amount of games out for the 360, but when more come out and it's dropped a little more in price i'll pick one up straight away and have both.

Over and over again i'm hearing that the PS3 is overpriced
The PS3 is equivalent to the following

Official XBox 360 Play & Charge Kit
@ £12.99 Delivered 1

Official XBox 360 Wireless Adaptor
@ £54.99 Delivered 1

XBox 360 Premium Console
@ £279.99 Delivered 1

XBox Live 12 Month Gold Membership Card
@ £34.99 Delivered 1

Total:
£382.96

I haven't included the HD-DVD drive either, which would increase the price another £150 to ~ £530

Roughly the same price as a Sony Playstation 3 PS3 Console With 60GB HDD + FREE HDMI cable + Click (Blu-Ray) @ £399.
How is this a fair comparison when you're quoting a deal price for the PS3, and the RRP price for the 360 and it's accessories? Every price you've quoted for the 360 can be beaten easily, and for the price you've quoted the premium comes with extras like games and a 2nd controller. Add a 2nd controller and 2 games and then see how much the PS3 is.

Also I have my 360 connected wired to my router via a £1.25 cable (which is a much better connection btw) and I haven't bought Live gold since I'm not interested in playing online.

Withouth the blu-ray drive the PS3 would be closer to £300 and then no one would be complaining about the price.

Also you're forgetting the main point - that there's isn't enough games to make the PS3 worth owning yet. When there is, and the price has dropped, I'll happily buy one.

Whats funny is that the PS3 is being sold at a loss. The 360 is about breaking even. Yet people are arguing they are overpriced! Sure they are expensive but the value of both machines arent in doubt. You get what you pay for.

If any machine is overpriced its the Wii. Basically a souped up gamecube chipset with cheaper drive and cheap parts all around. They could sell it for £40 (price of a game) and still make profit on day one. Yet it retails for £180. It also has the most issues of the 3 consoles. Nintendo again back to staggering releases and squeezing as much as possible out of their customers.
