A future proof CPU

Something around Intel’s Alder Lake absolutely stinks.

It pulls a crap ton of power, runs stupidly hot, but don’t worry these things aren’t a concern - just buy one because it’s faster in some applications vs Ryzen.

Aye right then..

My 12600kf runs a hell of a lot cooler than my ryzen7 and a hell of a lot faster too.

Everyone was like, you need a 360 aio atleast to keep that thing cool? Where are people getting these insane figures from?

Weird isn't it. Running a 12700KF on a £25 Artic E34 cooler and its fine.

Seems to be a lot of outright lies being spread about Alder Lake.

Also "faster in some applications" . Lol, more like decently faster in pretty much everything!

The upgrade path or future proof on one socket is a lie for example.

6700k/7700k maintained high pricing for years where it was cheeper to move to a 8600k/8700k (This is what I did)

9900k is expensive second hand and nearly or more expensive than a 12600k

10700k/11700k/10900k/11900k etc same as the 9900k.

I'll predict all those people on Ryzen 1/2/3 AM4 thinking I'll just pick up a super cheep Ryzen 5xxx when Zen4 hits are not going to be impressed.

I think there's more chance of being able to pick up some kind of upgrade for AM4, purely because of the amount of processors sold for the socket in total (across all the generations), but yes it's unlikely that e.g. a 5800 will ever be "super cheep".

However for those currently on 1st or 2nd gen ryzens, I think there will be a bit more scope with options for 3600X/3700X/3800X at least.
