I say I will be selling in anticipation... I don't know 100% whether I will be though! If I do it myself it will be locally in one or two privately owned shops. Not exactly gonna big up the shops to get people to go buy
Plus, it's not exactly competing for business here... no other people that I am aware of have a card business plan here on OCUK so, even though I don't see this as really promoting my business (rather telling people about my hobby/interests), if it was considered that way then no one would be affected.
If I posted saying "guys and girls, come buy my products here" then that would be a different matter! Instead I am saying "Guys and girls, look what I do and hope to achieve, have a laugh and is there anyone who wants a drawing done?!"
If I do make it big and am in all the card shops and people think this is against the rules I will happily remove it as I don't want to be trouble at all! If any dons have any problems please please please email me. I really don't want to cause problems at all
Drawings are coming on slowly at the moment as currently on holiday (though I have managed to slip the odd one in)! I promise you I will get them done without fail
For a reminder to those who fancy one/have an idea and want me to draw it you can fleamail me at [email protected]! If you post it here I may miss it - email means I see it and put it in a "to do" folder!

Bit busy trying to set up some back of card designs but have managed to get a few done! Those who are waiting - I will get round to yours Sorry it's taking a while - sometimes I lack inspiration on some lines and wait wait wait and then BLAM! I draw something (funny really considering I only draw stickmen )

I think I prefer the latter - it's nice and simple. Just how I like things!

Mentioned about it elsewhere... but I keep drawing yours and then scrapping it! I have an idea in my head and it's not working... so I am breaking from it for a day and then rethinking it in total. I'll go bed thinking of it and wake up with an idea

I have a lot to do today (mainly preparing the backs of a number of cards in prep for printing a load - going to sell them at a local booty!) So may not be able to do many new drawings! Will see how I get on!

Sorry Capn' Stevan it's taken so long in coming! I've been mega busy with a project a colleague asked me to do and also setting up other parts of my business (I am currently proofing a load of cards to be printed so I can take them to a number of potential clients/sell them on the streets/traders markets!)
But here's your PC Pirate (oh and thankyou - you were my excuse to stare at pictures of Captain Jack Sparrow all morning I am one VERY happy lady )
More requests are being thrown around in the next few days as I have a couple of days grace before my second lot of proofs come in... and then it all goes mental again!

Have you ever thought about doing illustrations?
For books you mean? I have a very very good (and incredibly GORGEOUS) friend who likes to write books and may just think about using me at some point for my pictures!
Other than that I don't know how I would get into that market! Currently focusing on the card industry to see where I get there (they're blooming tough cookies - but I will get there!)
Oh yes, another design here requested through my webby! The lady told me her hubby was a bit low due to their house seemingly falling apart and wanted a card to cheer him up! Soooo...

Just thought I would drop in as it's been aggggggggeeees! Art work is going ACE - I have my cards in a number of shops now and trialing with a big chain at the moment so am super dooper chuffed Also have a supermarket interested in stocking them (despite the fact they normally deal with businesses with a million pound turnover! Awesome!)
Couple of sillys and requests I've done since posting here last:
Tis fun! Am still enjoying it muchly - especially now I have myself some full on clients, though this has involved the tedious job of folding thousands of cards, stuffing envelopes in them then sealing them into cello bags! Managed to watch all the Star Wars episodes doing my last lot it took so long ;D
Past week I have had to develop my own font for a company to use which was fun! Looky at what I produced - was so chuffed!
Anyway! Just a small update letting you know how I am getting on and to see what you guys think of the stuff Requests - once again am taking them but am slightly bogged down so by all means pop to my webby or email me at [email protected] and I'll sort something out for you at some point

Athena has a section of wacky cards in their shops, sadly I can't find a website for them though
Yeh they do a selection of fun stuff like Edward Monkton and Quentin Blake
Meh. I do stuff for some of their stores but once again don't really want to divulge where and things incase I get banned Athena comes under "vivarti" when googling by the way! They sadly went a bit bust in the late nineties and their stores reduced dramatically from a couple of hundred to around about 10 - 12.
I still think the stuff they do is ace though

It's doing quite well and I have good feelings about next year now I have my foundations layed The bum one was not actually drawn to represent whom you think! Infact... you don't know who it was supposed to be
So you can like it without worrying about who's bum it is I love the K9 one too!
I had best test whether chocholate > Smoothies this weekend though just to be sure. You can join in too - I'll supply the chocolate... smoothies will come in the morning prior to bacon butties
Then the next weekend can be Chocolate vs Bacon.

Just thought I would let people knows how it's all going.... and it's going SUPERB! So chuffed with what I've managed to achieve in over a year! Requests are still flooding in on the webby (www.akettleoffish.co.uk) and the cards are in a variety of shops over the UK! Whoop whoop! After having a hellish time with ebay (zomg to their fees! It's ridiculous!) I've managed to open my own online shop! Wooo hoo! (Am I alright to say that? I never know where I stand saying things on OCUK about my card stuff! If an admin thinks it needs changing let me know and I will change it! Thanks!!)
Thought I may be in trouble with the credit crunch, but it would seem they're still massively popular and orders are flying in regularly now! Nice to get paid for drawing stickmen ;D

Financially things are always a bit tight to start with so a little funding wouldn't go amiss buuuut I am getting there (slowly but surely) and with Clintons paying me next month for having my cards in 20 odd stores, I should start pulling back through properly as opposed to walking the line of being in money... then out and then in... and out again! Rollercoaster ride it is! Kind of satisfying funding and doing it all yourself!
Would be nice to attend a couple of shows though... they generally cost around £1k or more. Erk. So yeh... hard to market on a budget really! I'm just trying to get into lots of independent shops and build a broad client base Have a few supermarkets interested too! Will hopefully be meeting with them at some point in the next month
