A Level Results Day - Eeek

You could say that, but if you dont get the grades you need you cant get into uni or the one you want to go to, so really they could determine what we get into for the rest of our lives...:(I am expecting them tomorrow too:(

You can re-sit so don't sweat plenty of people don't go to uni and do just fine!

So you slate people who did/do A-levels yet you did a BTEC?

Wow you fail at life.

A btec is easier but more often or not there in totally different areas than A levels so he hardly fails at life, you can't do an A level in woodwork etc (not defending anything he said just Btecs)

*incidentally I did A levels so I'm not defending them because I did them!*

No, i simply presumed from all the media they were getting easier and easier. Same probably applies for BTEC courses.

I got what i wanted from the btec and uni, have a job and am enjoying life at the moment in general. Though you are open to think what you want as i am

But he's slating for example an A-level in higher maths or Physics whilst he's in 5 hours a week doing some BTEC course...

Why act like Mr nice guy after making such ridiculous comments? I'm happy you're enjoying life, but to say something like A-levels are easy (something that you have no experience of) is nothing more than ignorant and arrogant and trust me, those are not nice traits to have in your personality.

Anyway back OT, good luck to everyone tomorrow.

You can't believe all you read in the papers. Although, I would like to see how some students of today would do when taking the A-Levels I took back in the late 80s, and also only allowed access to period specific technology.

The BTEC i did had 16 modules over 2 years. I was in 4 days a week around 6 hours a day

Every year a level results come out and everyone does better. I dont have to have experience of A levels to work out they are getting easier.

Anyway back on track and back to Mr nice guy! Well done for any results, hope they get you into the uni of your choice (or job) Go celebrate

4 Years ago tomorrow I got EED at my A levels. I did a foundation course in engineering, got a 2:1 then got onto a degree in mech eng at King's College London where I have just graduated with a first class honours. I found A levels very difficult indeed but I think that is because I was not in the right mental state at the time and I suffered quite badly from depression then. Good luck everyone tomorrow, it brings back some horrible but good memories at the same time as 4 years ago tomorrow, I had a life changing moment where I went from a failing loser to brushing aside my depression and getting onto a good course at a good uni.

Cue the endlessly nauseating, yearly ritual cries of ‘best year ever’ ever followed by assorted claims (invariably by some jobsworth bureaucratic socialist type) that it’s “down to the students working harder” and not because the exams have become completely facile...

Let's not forget though, these days students have the internet and all that modern technology offers to help with their studies. We didn't have that back when I, and the older members here, were studying for our A-Levels.

This.

Free translation got me through many last minute homework sessions :D

Hoping for AAAA, but expecting AAAB.

Maths AS, Computing A2, Geography AS, Physics AS.

Anyone remember when the dropped the P1-P3 maths and padded it out to C1-C4 and dropped another module completely.

Yeah right its not getting easier!

Just found out from a contact of mine in admissions at the Uni I applied to that I didn't make it onto my chosen course. Really gutted. Got 10 days to find a job now. :(

They honestly don't.

Once you're in to a uni no one could care less about A-Levels and/or GCSE's other than the fact you have Maths and English at C or higher @ GCSE.

In fact the majority of jobs won't even care what grade you get from your degree, more the fact that you have one.

Absolute rubbish. If you want a graduate job or a placement with many of the big name employers your UCAS points score matters more than your degree classification. Seriously.
