A Nightmare On Elm Street - First teaser online

I loved the originals, Freddy is one of my favourites I remember watching them when i was about 12 :D

From the trailor Freddy looks weird :(

I hope it's not too heavy on the CGI as it ruins the atmosphere in horror films when everything looks fake.

seems they have run out of ideas with current crop of remakes appearing...there will soon be another king kong movie,this time set in london where the finale is canary wharf zzZZzz...80s movies beat all;)
 
Ironically my mum wouldnt let me watch the originals when I was younger, although every other film was fine. The Thing, Aliens, Predator, plenty of nightmares over these. When I did eventually watch Nightmare on Elm street I though it was more a comedy not that scary at all.

Its hard to say how good it is from the trailer but something like this should be like Suspiria or a David Lynch film then it would be a lot scarier.
 
Scared the crap out of me when i was a kid, this does look like it could be pretty good, never had time for Friday 13th or any of the other horrors and freddy has aged rather badly so could be a nice little update.
 
the first couple were ok then it turned into a comedy, Batman went the same way. Lets hope they keep it dark for this reboot.
 
Load of crap. its a shame really because the original, as bad as it is now was great all them years ago and it was only a low budget b-movie.

This remake is rubbish, that 1st trailer showed it had potential but it didn't end up like that.

I'll put it down as one to watch with the other half it you wanna get close, other than that, aviod.

I tend to agree with some others, Jackie earle has completely the wrong physical build for Freddy. Pity as his face and voice are very suited, but it is really a bit like being attacked by an angry oompa loompa.
 
Freddy looks and sounds like a retarded stroke victim with an over sized head.

The voice and one liners just don't sound right - even the worst of the sequels got that right.

Also the back story and the sort of twist just make Freddy look like a pussy rather than evil perv.

There are quite a few jumpy moments though that work well.

I can't see this turning into a new franchise though.
 
I just watched the trailer again with someone and noticed some parts that weren't in the movie, they look more like they would be in the 2nd movie if it was to be remade (in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge there was a pool party).

My guess is they got a lot of interest once the trailer was made and they've decided to francise it again rather than using all the good bits from the originals.

Just got back from this...it's not amazing by any means...however it's a fairly decent remake. A bit overboard with the pedo stuff in this one though.

As for the person who made a comment about the CGI hand in the bath...looked like a real hand to me...didn't come across like CGI at all.
