A test review...

Had a bottle of Brewdog Devine Rebel Mortlach Reserve over Christmas, another of their whisky aged ones, really was superb. Very smooth, very malty, and exceptionally drinkable given that it's 12.5%.

Got a few different Harviestoun Ola Dubh ones too, a 12, 18 and 30. Will be trying them over the next little while :)

As far as beer reviews go, I never really get how people manage to extract long lists of aromas and flavours when writing proper reviews, so I tend to just keep a much more basic record of which ones I like and any particular notes about them :p

Edit/ Just saw your post a few up from mine, I see you're familiar with the Harviestoun ones!

How much did you pay for the Mortlach? Don't remember seeing that. I almost dropped a barrel of Paradox once... That woulda been bad. Anything Mikkeller is involved with will be awesome really. Surprised that's only single hopped though.

Never had an Ola Dubh before, but have drank Harviestoun beers before. Enjoy them. The Ola I have is a 30, going to pair it with a nice meal I think as I think just chugging back a nice bottle of beer like that for no reason is a bit of a waste. Plus, gives me an excuse to buy some steak!

A few years ago, me and my friend decided to try and 'Drink around the World' by getting our paws on a different beer from each country. We kinda lost interest in it though after getting the easyish ones. Might go back to it, we kept tasting notes but they were pretty simple. Tempted to do it properly in a blog form though.

It could be my lack of sleep and the amount of drugs I am doped up on right now to get rid of my flu but this thread has made me physicaly laugh quite a lot.

Thanks OP!

The Mortlach was £10.99 from a place in Cambridge - gutted I probably wont find it again, the Brewdog site's sold out and I've not seen it in any of their stockists near me in Edinburgh. True on the Mikkeller though :)

Still got the Ola Dubh, a Samichlaus, an Abstrakt:04, a Tactical Nuclear Penguin and (to bring this off topic bit full circle :p) a Tripel Karmeliert leftover from Christmas though. Quite a profitable year for getting nice beers as gifts really.

Drinking around the world sounds fun though, go for it :)

In a very short review (I would call it a dramatised opinion rather than a review) to not only have that many spelling errors, but to not even correct them?!

And then what you've chosen to review in your very first review? Some fake Becks, foul imported chemical lemonade form Australia and to have even given the only semi-respectable lager in the review the loosing mark to .... Becks Vier!?!.

And the the marking? 5/5 for Becks Vier? Have you ever tried a decent beer before? That is certainly not a 5 mark beer. It would be lucky to get 1/10 when I'm drunk, and I'm a poor student!!

Seriously, don't give up the day job.

Read some good reviews before trying to write your own. Observe the structure, marking, points made in it and how it isn't like a story.
Googleing 'beer review' bring you thousands of results, the first one having some sort of structure you can see.

Anyway, still have no idea if you're actually serious.

Good luck.

very indepth and informative one of the best reviews i have ever read ! i would certainly pay money to subscribe!
