A Week With NVIDIA's G-SYNC Monitor

Does it really? The people that buy value won't buy a £400 monitor.

What Andy is getting at is in the long run you'd probably require far less horsepower to get playable results thus saving cash in the long term. But we will see, I don't think any of us are really going to be able to get our heads around it until we try it out :)

Was looking forward to having one to play with for Christmas, but that price is sickening, sub £400 I'd have been on board. Guess I'll wait to see Benqs offerings.

Great video, I liked the way it went into detail about how v-sync, triple buffering etc worked and then showed how flawed they both are inherently.

It's going to be one of those technologies you'll have to actually play with to see and feel the benefits, a bit like 3D Vision is always panned by those who've not used it but loved by the vast majority that have.

Yep, I have seen people say just use triple buffering and set frames to 59fps and job done. What people don't realise and maybe I am just as guilty is the acceptance of judders/tearing that we show. "Oh, it judders there but that is part of the game" or "tearing there but I only noticed it briefly, so that's ok". This is why I am desperate to see one in action.

I have 0 funds available now or I would be all over one of these but that has done me a favour if anything, as 1440P is a joke to try and game on with any form of V-Sync running in truth and this is where I would like to go next. Come the time 1440P or even 1600P is done, hopefully I will have built my cash reserves back up and getting one of those.

I still would want to see before buying though but I can't see a high-street PC retailer having one of these and sadly, there is nothing close to me to just look at :(

Have you got your GTX 780ti you mentioned the other day yet.

Heaven 4 needs a few more 780ti scores.:D

I would have only gone for a Classy in truth Kaap and ended up getting another Titan. SLI when I get the other sorted is good enough for me :)

6gb of VRAM is the future, as time goes on there will be some real bargain secondhand Titans about. In a years time if you wanted to you could pick up another one or two cheap and go 3 or 4 way sli.

After reading the Anandtech review I am very interested in this. The performance hit seems small enough and the benefits appear to be great once you have a fast enough gpu.

The linus video above is worth a watch, he makes a good comparison with hdd and ssd, as in you don't think you'll need an ssd until you try it and the same goes for gsync. He also says that unless you're in need of a 1080 144hz monitor now to wait until q1/q2 next year for the market to pick up a little pace.

Fixed ;) :p

I just down loaded the Vid and basically if you can hold 60fps Vsync then there is no visual difference besides input lag, but Vsync at 45fps is really juddery but with GSync it did look smooth but 45fps for me is a real rarity.

Its defiantly a plus for people who can't hold 60fps, but i would have liked to see varying fps with Gsync on and not a fixed 45fps.

When they film it at 1600 fps, it is very apparent that the V-Sync, triple buffer's is causing stutter (you count 1, 2, 3 and pause). Like I said earlier, we know it is there but we accept it because we are used to it and believed it is how it is and nothing we could do about it.

At the moment yes, but its no doubt given amd something to think about in taking their own approach to the problem.

Amd and nvidia are working hard to push the envelope so to speak, in the end no doubt all pc gamers will get a better experience.

Something I thought about earlier was thread limitation stutter with multiple cards, gsync could well be a good answer to that!

Agreed about thread stutter and Tom Peterson did say this is baby steps and they are learning the possibilities of what it can do. I see no reason why it couldn't.

3 way would be sweet but 4 way would be a bottleneck I can't avoid but I would never say never :)

I only use 4ghz on my CPU for gaming with the settings turned up to max @1600p and don't normally have a problem.

The things that do cause a problem are BF4 multi player where it is a good idea to overclock the CPU a bit more but the problem would be the same if you were using one or four cards. The other thing that is a problem is benchmarks most of which are not very demanding and need the maximum CPU overclock.

Look on the bright side if you do end up with a 4 way sli setup you won't run out of VRAM running Crysis 3 maxed at 4K.:D

And you will be able to run Skyrim with all the mods @4K.:D

Haha, very true Kaap :) Skyrim which bored the bejeezus outta me but with a few mods that I have seen out could be fun.
