A8R32-MVP what is it

Hi,

I flashed the bios to 0201, set vcore to 1.53, managed to get 230 fsb at 12x so far , have not tried any higher. Basically I first set the fsb to 220, and the board booted straight from bios. With the old version I was getting the same problem as ryanm, but it seems ok know.

cas 2.5-3-3-8 @ 1T
HT link at 400

I've just run 3dmark 05 and managed to get over 15,000 marks. CPU at 2760 mhz on air, that's not bad.

I have still to check if the graphics are ok in games at these settings, since I have flashed bios I have had no graphics corruption at stock cpu speeds, I'll check @ 2760 to see how well it works...........

Regards
Raja

my board is 0201 aswell.

also my AsusUpdate dont work - something about NT Error???

I am at the moment running at 285, with my HT Link at 800. So FSB is at 2280mhz and is pretty stable at the moment. Voltage for my cpu is at 1.375.

Memory is at 466mhz 3-4-4-8 at the moment. Leaving this till then end.

Thing is I know as soon as turn my system off I will loose all this and my computer will not reboot. I will have to go back to 220!

Hi ryan,

try setting your ht link at 400, run the ram at 400, see what that does, no guarantee's, but worth a shot.............

I'll try a reboot just to make sure myself......

I remember my overclocks were not stable until I went over 1.48v, but each processor is different.

Hi,

I downloaded the bios as a file without asus update. I then run asus update and set it to update from file, then flashed.

I have rebooted my computer 3 times now and each time no problems. I will now reboot, set the fsb 225 (down from 230) and see if it posts straight from bios.....

OK,

Still have my CPU Freq at 285 - voltage 1.375 - Basically 2.56Ghz
My HT Link is now 1000mhz - so FSB is an amazing 2850
DDR Memory is at 466mhz so far. Still 3-4-4-8. (BIOS has my memory at 166mhz limit).

I have not messed about with my Memory yet but I am pretty happy so far. Ill keep pushing!

My Asus Update does not even install on my system! But it may be because Windows has installed itself on the D: rather than the C: - even though thats not what I asked!

Hi,

Ryan ok, the problem with the overclocking, is when the system has a complete power down.

My system just did what you said, it did not want to post straight with the fsb at 230, I went into bios and just saved and exit without changing anything and it loaded. Then got stuck at windows loading, so I reset and it posted at 230 with still no changes to bios.

Upshot is this, it's definatley a bios issue, but the good news is that asus should be able to fix it in their next update.

Still my I'm happy with my overclock, and now know how to work around the issue.

Thanks
Raja

I have the same problem with Asus Update on my A8N32. Apparently it's a conflict between Asus Update and Creative drivers, and if you install Asus Update before the Creative drivers it should work (but I've not tried this). Do you have a Creative card in your computer?

So thats why Asus update doesn't work. :(

Well, i use EZ Flash, so screw it, i won't uninstall my Creative drivers. :p

My board also had the 0201 bios.

Hi,

So here's the summary for an overclocked power up,

1) switch the computer on : it won't boot, so hold in the power switch for 5 secs.

2) the computer will boot, but will default to original speeds.

3) you will be prompted to go in to bios with F1 or load lefaults with F2. Press F1

4) don't change anything in bios just exit and save.

5) the computer will load with your previous overclock.

not great but it works and saves you resetting the fsb to 220

Thanks

Down to the boot order in your bios.... or which sata connector you have used...

Windows will install to the first drive the bios finds ( allocated c:) but once all the drivers are loaded and windows boots, it may no longer be allocated c:

Been there so many times before...

Another update,

woke up this morning, turned on my computer and booted straight away into my last overclock. Was so amazed I turned of my computer again, and again and still it boots up. That was with my FSB at 285 and HT Link at 1000mhz

I have put a new PSU in my system, which when I turn off my computer, my usb devices are still on, which I thought was strange. The previous 2 nights I have been switching the PSU off via its switch, but I forgot too last night - and hey - my system boots no probs on its last overclock. Still dont know if thats why its happened but its the only thing I have done differently???

Im just wondering if my system should be like that when its off??? but at least it works. No time to play today as Im off to work but Ill let you know if it still comes on tonight.

Hi, with regards to my order placed on the 21/02/06.....
Could do better ocuk, I had to ring to check on my delivery because they didn't reply to my e-mail. Was then informed that they were out of stock and were not expected for two weeks. Cancelled order and placed one with S**n, which was £30 cheaper, motherboard now confirmed as on it's way for delivery tomorrow before 12:00. Not impressed...

Edit out that Competitor matey not allowed. :)

OcUK's must be the only ones made in gold judging by the prices everywhere else. :D

Ok here are benchmarks with Opteron @ 3.0GHz before (MSI NF3 + X800 XT PE) and after (Asus A8R32-MVP + X1900 XTX)...

3DMark01: 31703 -> 34452
3DMark03: 14122 -> 18965
3DMark05: 6747 -> 11776
3DMark06: 2324 -> 5362

Lots of tweaking to do, but nice increase so far on the newer 3DMarks :)
