A8R32-MVP what is it

Thx Lordedmond for the welcome.
I have posted on these forums before but for some reason my account got reset and I have only just got it reactivated. However,I have been reading them for a number of years now and find them to be one of the most informative on the web.
I am particularly interested in this thread as I am about to build a new well specced PC. I was originally going to go SLI nforce4 route but now I am interested in Crossfire. I will wait to see if the usual new technology teething problems can be sorted out.

If anyone is interested I will post PC spec I have come up with so far. :)
Regards
Phil

Raja,

I was thinking of doing something similar,

If some of the big sites can get hold of this information, it may help push Asus or who-ever into a quick fix.

Thanks for the advice on the noise, i will unplug the damned thing and see if it helps

:)

/edit. didnt work for me :(

raja,

Ive sent a mail over to Zardon at Driverheaven, because i know he has close contact with Ati.

I have shamelessly used some of your information in your letter, i hope this is ok

hi
Raga what forums are you not registered on :D

i hope your persistance it sourcing the info pays off ( before my m/b arrives)

Dude, when one faces problems such as these he makes all the attempts he can, so I registered everywhere I could (main stomping ground is still OCUK though). I am hoping that someone has enough knowledge to swing it for us.

Ok, installed on a single drive thro sata, Quake4 is just as bad :-(. Performed a HDtach and got a random access of 1199862.0ms!!!! I think there is something fundamantally wrong here with the sata interface.
Folks, please let me know if you are using the sata or the IDE interfaces, thanks...

I wonder if downgrading to the very first bios release will help

Or has anyone tried that yet ?

Hi,

Yeah I downgraded to the first bios last night and it was the same.....
At the moment I'm using the 0307 beta, there are a few refinments in the options, but I have been unable to find anything that sorts our problems.

HD Tach is OK for me..

Random Access Time: 8.1ms
CPU Utilization: 4%
Average Read: 65MB/sec

WD Raptor 74 (Sata Port 1)

Hi using sata in raid 0, and my times are just right, so it seems that it's another issue that's touch and go. Check which irq your uli drivers are sitting on, mine are with one of my crossfire cards. FWIW I have nearly all onboard connections turned off in bios, all ser. ports, lan ports, silicon image controller (I don't need it), I have even turned off some of the usb ports via windows. Sound is on.

Thanks
Raja

Raja -

I did not experience any of the problems you describe in testing the
A8R32-MVP Deluxe, and I've had the board running for over a month. I
reviewed the thread on OC-UK, but I am still not completely clear on
the
hardware/software combinations that are creating the random freezes.
Can
you please clarify what CPU/Video Card(s)/Memory configuration is
common to
the issue you have found. It is also VERY important to know if this
only
happens in Crossfire, since we do know the Power Supply demands with
Crossfire are huge and require a huge wattage with excellent rails for
completely stable performance. If you can send me the config info I
will
try to duplicate what you have found - or rule it out on my setup.

a random thought , this problem seems to be localised mostly to the uk,
have they forgot to put the heatsink goop on the north and south bridge chipset, on a batch of m/b shipped here

are these the symtoms of a chipset overheating ?

my reply

Hi Wesley,

Here's what I have,

amd 4800 *2

2 gig corsair 3500LL Pro

Seasonic S12 600w (worked fine with the asus a8r-mvp)
and is crossfire approved.

1900 crossfire mastercard
1900xtx graphics card

My motherboard revision is 1.03g, and I have tried all
3 of the bios that are available from one source or
another.

Also the problems are not just limited to the ATI
cards, one of the guys tried a 7800gt and had the same
issues.

Can you please tell us what bios number settings for
bios, board revision etc you have?

Thanks For taking the time and concern to reply!

Raja

Hi...has anyone tried using a drive on the silicon image ...serial ATA raid connector? might just be the ULI M1575 causing all the problems.... recieved this board today but seriously considering just sending it back..and going with a nforce4 board.

Got a reply from Allan "Zardon" Cambell from Driverheaven.net

He is going to refer it to one of his Colleague's as he may be in a better position to answer this question

Its a good start and i appreciate the guy for getting back to me so prompt
