what ram are you using?

I'm running corsair 3500LL pro.
maybe it is trickier with Corsair ram.

I know I have to take it nice and easy oc-ing at 11x
I can't just knock down the multiplier from 12x like you can

Have not tried 230 straight at 12x though.

thanks for the info....

this is the ram

A matched pair of 1GB XMS4000PT memory modules - 2GB total - ideal for dual DDR motherboards. Memory timings of 3-4-4-8. Ideal for overclockers or those who need to run their memory at high frequencies then this is the memory kit you require.

Available This Week Only for just £124.95 +VAT.

the sticker says cmx1024-4000pt
xms4000v1.1
xms4000 1024 500mhz 3.4.4.8

that off the spare pair in my desk ( another embro project)

Guys, remember with the ATI/AMD its slightly different to overclock

Im gonna quote tony from Xtreme as im not 100% sure myself, but i do remember having to change a few things when i had the first Gruper Ati board

really do need to see what end users are seeing 1:1 with the asus, LDT can be set to 3, DLL needs to be in highspeed mode and the drive for LDT can be at optimal, aslo remember to set the skew down to 450 or 600 and the fsb rises. I have seen 3 reviews all showing over 300fsb, issue is i have not seen many end users doing the same.

I was looking more for which settings on this board do what.. You guys have already hammered through.

I know the process, just not which values do what..

Thanks

I can't find LDT in the bios?

Having a nightmare trying to get 1T running stable.. not even 133mhz (200MHz effect as HTT is OC'd to 300) @ 4-4-8..

Btw this is Corsair PC4400 which used to run @ ~280mhz 1T 3.0-4-4-8! Hmm

Hey - thanks to all of you guys!!! Now have 0311 Bios and everything is great!

Cheers Raja, Coolasmoo and the rest! Thought I would have to RMA this board, but now I am happy!

Got my Opteron at 2.4Ghz (265mhz CPU Freq x9 multiplier)
HT Link Speed at 1Ghz (1325mhz)
Memory at 265mhz(530mhz) at 2.5,4,4,8 at 1T
What does the Memory Skew mean - is it better high or low - I just have it on auto?

Not bad so far I think, sure I could get more but not going that far just yet! I am gonna try My HyperX memory. Its PC4000 and is also good at 1T. Not sure if it will beat the Mushkin - but I need to sell one pair as I cant keep both. Do I keep the Mushkin or HyperX???

Anybody know if I can use them both in the same mobo - or should i get the same brand. Both 2x512mb kits???

Will someone else try the same? Lower multiplier higher fsb for same cpu speed, so we can see if it's random or not????

Thanks
Raja

Tried 230@12 - no joy, may have to slacken the memory timings from 2-3-2-5 out to at least 3-3-2-5 and up the voltage to 2.8 - will try that in the morning and see if it posts.

What sort of stable FSBs are people getting with this board, I've seen reviews saying 320-330 is posible. Is this the norm?

Hi Duke,

can you try something for me, assuming you have not already,

return to default clock settings.

change nothing else for now, though you may want to fix the mem skew to it's default manually, taking it out of auto mode.

now lower your multiplier where you expect it to reach 280 fsb.
change nothing else at this point
save and reboot.

upon rebooting hit delete to return to bios.

slacken your memory timings to the point where you expect an fsb of 280 is possible.

enter the rd580 chipset section and set all relevant settings to optimal
change nothing else at this point

save and reboot.

hold delete again to return to bios.

lower the htt link to 400.

set the fsb to 210

save and reboot.

hold delete again and increase fsb to 220

save and reboot.

keep re-entering bios and raise the fsb in increments of 5mhz at a time.

let me know how high you can go...............

I am getting 246 @11X multiplier timings of 2.5-3-3-7 @ 1t ram speed 200mhz htt link set @ 600, bf2 is stable.

ignore the above if you have already tried it..........

boy Raja is a night owl look at the posting time

quick OT have you had any corosion ploblems with the zalman ,email in trust if you dont want to post here ( god my dyslexia is bad today its taken me about five mins to type this )

Im guessing he means if you know your cpu can hit 2.8 then lower the multi to 10,

Or something like that
Yeah that was kinda what I thought. It was running OK at 300 x 10 before (10x is default multi).

Not that i know off, but ive only had it installed about a month anyway.

I used the additive that came with it, seems to be fine so far.

Its expensive but , the reserator was the best purchase ive made. Easy to fit, Silent and future proof.

thanks

price is not a factor , this pc is in the living room , nuf said

this mb runs the x1900 hotter? so louder gets up to stage three speed wise with ati demo

just ordered a One Click Surge Skt in prep , plug pc into the black skt when it draws load it will switch the other skts on

OcUk should stock IMHO

sorry for the OT guys

Hi,

yeah that's what I meant, to set the multiplier where you think it needs to be to run at 300.

I have to overclock in small increments of 5mhz for the fsb.

HT link is at 600mhz.........

Ok, cleared the CMSO, still not post on bootup. Again all fans in action and I can hear the HD's clicking. Put the Kingstons back in and it's fine. I'm feeling that I'm going to RMA both this motherboard, for the HD issues, and the Corsairs, for their boot issue, should I try the same or go for something different. I must say that this upgrade has been a painful one of attrition....
