A8R32-MVP what is it

Well about 2 weeks running this mobo and still no issues. Rock Solid........ woot woot.

No issues.....none what so ever even when I first bought it Bios revsion 0211. Flashed to Bios 0311 when it came out and still rocking solid.

I don't understand why a few in here are having so many issues, maybe it not the motherboard, maybe it is the User themselves or it could be some other component you are using.

Not sure, but it is interesting seeing some of the issues some are claiming to be with the motheboard.

Maybe you could share your settings to help others?

Raja: Tried those programs you suggested. I put in the settings within A64 Tweaker and hit Set, saved the cfg etc but it doesn't seem to load them again after restart?
Clockgen is useless.. pushing the HTT upto 300 just hangs the system :/

Unfortunatley A64 must be used evrytime, it's just an experiment that someone has suggested as it worked for them, obviously they are willing to go thru the rigmoral of reseting a64 everytime.. Still post your findings on that thread, we need all the info on one thread to move forwards. We know there are issues with some boards, my last one made all sorts of noises with the ram, nit picky (perhaps), but it was loud and very annoying, considering I have a number of 30db fans! This current one does not have that problem, also this one clocks better out of bios, some people have no issues at all. But there are more people with problems overclocking over 250htt, than those without.

what sort of vcore can you achieve 300htt on other motherboards, and what have you set it to here?

I found the settings for over volting the board, but it didn't help RAM stability.

1T is simply not possible. Can all PC3200 RAM do 1T using the lowest divider?

I have the ram (assuming it is that) squeel as well. It plays a tune when loading Trackmania & each in-game menu I chose plays a different tone :D I'll try and record it lol. It does it in some other games as well.. bit of a weird one.

Before I had an MSI K8N Neo Plat 2 nforce3 board. Used to run 300 x 10 (166 divider) @ 1T (3.0-4-4-8). CPU core was ~1.65v, ram was ~2.75v. Chipset was bumped a notch but nothing significantly high.

Hi Duke,

It may be worth rma'ing that board if it has the noise, I did and i| have not missed it since, also this one boots better out of bios with my overclcocks applied. The one with the squeal was quite finnicky at times.

Raja

Yeah was thinking of doing that, as it is quite annoying, especially with watercooling etc which is all quiet.

Did you RMA it to OcUK or Asus?

Cheers

More questions. I seem to be running single channel even though I am using two identical sticks. Do I need to manually set it to dual somewhere in the bios? I thought this was auto-detected.

Sounds like you have them in the wrong slots. They shouldn't be in the same banks.. should be in 1 + 3 or 2 + 4. Check the manual if you need further info :)

Yup, you are perfectly right. I found out just after I made the post.

Getting it right enabled me to use 1T, and my 3D Marks seem to have gone up by about 10%. Maybe I'll have better luck with the 2/3 divider now.. but I am happy with those results already :D

Raja,

Something ive been thinking about.

These seasonic 600W only provide 18amps on each rail = 36

Ati recommends 38 with crossfire.

Im not having any noticable problems with the seasonic apart from sometimes when i reboot the PC it wont restart and hangs (warm boot)

A manual restart solves it though.

I tried a hyper type R 580w psu which has 20 + 18 = 38 and it seems fine now, but i would prefer to use the seasonic as its a much better build

I also noticed that ATi approve the seasonic for the x1800 crossfire but not the x1900 that i can see.

Have you had any problems like above

Hi,

No I have not had that problem, I doubt whether the cards exceed 18a draw on each rail for long enough to trip the overload circuit.

Seasonic actually quote accurate rails rather than peak watts (which most munfactutrers do), I have not yet seen any posts anywhere with problems using crossfire with that supply.

I think 3dmark06 stresses the cards more than most games do, my system has never shutdown whilst running that, even when overclocked.

Though If I do find out different I would not hesitate to upgrade to a higher power supply, I'm sure Seasonic will have supplies providing over 600w soon.

Duke the old moboard was bought from another site, it was rma'd on Friday directly to their returns dept.

The new board is from OCUK, it works fine for my setup.

I do hope the new ram fixes the problem

these mb do seem a bit finnicky with the ram , but its the amd chip that has the controler

the unforunate thing is to diag a problem the parts need to be stable , but as been noted by Coolasmoo and raja the mb with the same rev. no. and the same bios perform differently ( ram squeal and OC setting )

I have noticed a marked drop in perfomace with this 311 bios compared to the 201 in 3dmark 06 I am about 200 points down .

Have you tried the ati screen saver  demo , you can run it as a demo as well gets my GFX fan up to 3rd gear

Hi Lord edmond, I hope it does too, however in talking to the tech support of OcUK it sounded like they will test the ram up to it's given specification on DFI mainboards and if it fails they will reject it. So we'll see but I feel fairly confident there is something wrong with one of the modules as only one works....

No I've not tried the ATI screensaver, however I've run the adaptive overclocking tool within the ATI CCC, that get the GPU temps up high and makes the fan spin some :-)

When I get ram that is working ok I will probably flash back to 0211 and see again if my games will run ok...

ChrisC

Yes that ati demo works the GFX a lot harder than the adaptive oc in CCC

Not being funny but i hope they do fail your Ram if you see what i mean
