A8R32-MVP what is it

Hi,

I think the max with dual cores is actually 1.55v, although it would show as 1.4v + 200mv. The only way to get more than this is to hard mod the voltage regulator, details of this can be found over at VRforums, be warned it's not easy to do. One thing to bear in mind with this board is that, you can reach high overclocks with lower vcore than on previous chipsets.

Unfortunatley there is no bios fix list as yet, we'll have to wait and see, I'm sure users everywhere will be publishing their results, also any problems or those not yet addressed.

Just been fiddling with memory timings etc on the new bios. I can now run @ 3.0GHz OK (which is great :)) but it has dropped 1,000 3DMark01 points compared to 3.0GHz on the first bios.

Going to try and run the ram a bit quicker now..

I don't like cat 6.4, I found it slower on a few games, so I reverted to cat 6.3.

Chris is that score with 6.3 or 6.4, is it any better or worse before/after the bios update?

I think Duke has a duel core hence the higher 06 score in comparison to yours.

Well it looks like after all the trouble us guys had at the start, it looks like we are pretty much all sorted now.

Ive decided to keep the Abit in my main PC which i use personally, simply because of the lower temps overall.

I may put the Asus in me second PC which is used by the other half, and my mate when he comes round for some online/lan gaming.

I cant seem to pick any differences in both boards at the moment.

They both overclock to where i need to go at this moment in time,

If i was to be picky, i would give the Abit the edge simply because of the

Heatpipe

Bios, (so much easier to use and will show you your HT calculations in the bios) it will also Auto to 1T rather than having to manually force it, but thats not a major thing

Uguru Options (using the hardware Temp monitoring ect)
and a simple + point for working fine from day 1 with the shipping bios.

And a very stable voltage through-out the range

Hope that all makes sense :D

In the face of eveything thats happened over the past month, if you asked me what my next purchase would be, i would honestly recommend Abit first

I'm still waiting on a few reviews, glad the Abit has worked so well off the bat. Abit seems to have used the wake of the Asus launch very well to configure their own release, meaning a smooth first time install for end users, something Asus would do well to learn for the future.

Nope not dual core :)

Opteron 146 @ 3.0GHz (10 x 300)
Corsair XMS PC4400 2x512MB
Connect3D X1900 XTX (stock)
Creative SB Audigy 4
WD Raptor 74
Swiftech Watercooling
Tagan TG430-U15 430W PSU

What I have found is I can't run 2.5 CAS + 1T.. but 3.0 is ok [@ 200MHz].. very little performance difference on the AMD A64 range with memory timings so it's fine.

Going to push the CPU a bit more I think.. :)

Sami Maekinen Guide

I’m getting a 3DMark06 score of 6217. That’s using the 10% overclock in the BIOS. Is it worth it to going through the Sami Maekinen guide to squeak out another 100 or 200Mhz on the CPU and possibly increase instability?

System:

AMD Athlon 64 FX 60 2.86GHz - CPU FAN Zalman CNPS 9500 LED
1Gx2 Mushkin 184P D500 991493R
ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe

Bad 3d marks

I upgraded the bios from 301 to 404 and cat 6.3 to 6.4

3dmark scores before
11343
6014

to post update

Still not tweaked but very suspicious any ideas

i've just updated to new bios 0404, and now i cant run any 3Dapps at all!

Everytime i try to run any game or 3dmark...etc, the system crashes and reboots. Occasionally, after a BSOD, but usually with a black screen, and then re-starts.

I'm trying to revert back to 0311 bios, but Afudos app keeps telling me to use a newer bios. In other words, it wont let me update to an older bios. Is there another way to update to 0311 from 0404?
