A8R32-MVP what is it

First thing to note on the Abit,

Crossfire is reversed compared to the Asus.

There is also an additional Molex connector to add power to the PCI-E lanes

Cmos reset seems reachable being positioned against the very bottom edge of the M/B, and wont be blocked by any thing by the looks of it.

Hi, just been reading another review about the mainboard, posted today, in it they say, hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by this; "On the ASUS front, the A8R32-MVP is a remarkable motherboard. Its performance, features and overclocking are better than what we were expecting to see from any ATI based solution.

ASUS has put a lot of time into the R&D department, and with a few more tweaks to the BIOS, some more voltage options for the CPU area, this board could be the one to make the magic 400MHz FSB mark. With our results, we see it as a possibility with some extreme cooling for the CPU, as for the ATI chipset, it runs almost cold when at full speed, showing that ATI has put a lot into its latest platform."

I've been reading a lot about the overheating northbridge, yet this shouldn't be the case as the chip itself only uses 8 watts and mine scarcely gets warm. As no reviews I've read suggest that this is an issue I'm wondering whether those who seem to be inflicted with this, and I'm not sure that even if it does get hot whether it's actually creating a problem with the running of the mainboard, have tried setting all of the bios settings back to it's default ones...

Ok, I'm sick and tired of leaving $2500 worth of hardware sitting next to the computer that I 'm using now. I've read that the Abit is a stable board. I'm not planning on OCing. Just want to play my games and use my hardware. I'm getting corsair xms 2048-3200c2tp and ENERMAX Liberty ELT620AWT ATX12V 620W as a psu, and of course fx 60 with x1900xtx/CF Edition card and my old Creative SB Audigy 2ZS and just 1 WD SATA II 250Gb. You think that'll be ok? Is that board worth me spending the time and effort, worst case senario I'll RMA it and go for the DFI. Now one more thing, does the Abit need a bios flash as soon as I get it, did they release one? Wuz up, If you think it's a worthy mobo, I'll buy it today...

Well the build went fine apart from the extra molex connector on the motherboard , its a long way away and i had trouble getting a connector over there.

Other than that im just re-installing everything at the moment, so i cant really tell you how it performs until later. No strange noises coming from the motherboard yet :p

The good news for me is that i had an old Guru clock from a later Abit board, and it works fine with this

You know what, I just saw that the DFI is up on a US site that we have to shop from and the DFI is only $224 so I'm just gonna go with it...Screw it, if it doesn't work well, RMA, you only live one, quoting the guy from a couple of posts earlyer...

downloading as we speak, let's see what happens, I'd expect a hive of activity in this thread over the coming days, hopefully massive satisfaction all round.

Good news about the Bios, lets see what this one does.

The Abit is running fine, straight in with my old overclock of 2500Mhz which i havent tried to improve on with either motherboard yet.

The Cpu is reporting much lower in Temps than the Asus.

Asus showed 52 Load
Abit Showing 42 Load

:)

3d Marks 06 with X2 at 2500 and Xfire at stock

Looks a bit better to me atm, 2.65ghz 2.5-3-3-6 @ 220htt, 12X multiplier, voltage @ 1.4v (reported as 1.44-1.45). Just ran S&M memory test for 28 mins, with no errors, I used to get errors when I clocked near 2.7ghz before. So this looks promising.

Anyone tested any games yet??

Also has anyone noticed the vcore voltage seems to fluctuate less than with 0311?
