About the MM

1000 seems fair to me. I've had a steady post count since I've been here and it felt about the "right" time for me to have access to the MM when it happened.

Is anyone else enjoying that fact that the OP, complaining about needed to post more, doesn't even contribute to his own thread? :p

I think the OP's first post is reasonable. If you've been here for ages, why shouldn't you have access?

Because all it would take to get access is to just have an old account that you don't even use, which defeats the object of what's trying to be achieved.

It's partly about filtering out knobs and partly about rewarding those who contribute to the community. People with 8 year old dormant accounts are not contributing to the community.

I wouldnt bother with it. Power hungry mods ban for legitimate reasons even if proof is provided.

You were a crap seller with an horrific attitude to buyers. Stop whining and accept that. We expect more from the people who use our MM.

Smack down!!!!

When and if i get MM access that will be great but it is not even close to being one of the main reasons i use these forums.
Its a perk, which for a retailer funded forum is pretty good of OcUK, if you cant access it, who cares???

I'll reiterate what someone else said. What's stopping someone signing up, waiting the time-limit and the using MM without ever contributing to the site?

The way I see it and the way I suspect the mods see it too. Thems the rules, if you don't like them then the Log out link is up there ↗↗

Whilst you make a valid point, currently the MM is thriving with for sale/wanted threads. Its unlikely that members with MM access will dwindle to the point that no-one will use it.

I should hope so.

Just checked and we have 8440 MM users.

I agree with the high post count requirement after being scammed on another site. My brother uses the MM and has never had a problem so i will be trying to get access eventually.

Nothing that common sense would avoid happening anyway.

1) Pay via paypal, with a credit card as the funding source, make sure you pay the fees for buyer protection. Never pay with BACs/Cash/Cheque.

2) Ensure the person actually has the item, get them to take a photo with the date, their username and your username in it. If the seller moans about it, then walk away.

3) If in doubt, use a trustworthy 3rd party or escrow service.

but with the current system all of the above is nonsense.

I paid via BT for almost everything I bought in the MM and never got scammed once.
got paid VIA BT when I sold a graphics card and never scammed the guy.

mm contains a pretty honest bunch so why change the criteria for access?

Exactly, I prefer BACS because the money goes straight from one bank account to the other instantly, without involving paypal or a third party. Not once have I had a problem, quite the opposite in fact :)

The MM is a vicious place for experienced users. You post a price that you feel is really fair and the next thing you know you have half a dozen forumites beating you down with big sticks until they get the price they want!! Brutal they are. Brutal!! :D:p:D
