About the MM

lies usually stuff is listed under ebay prices etc and people snap stuff up before you even see it :@

I think a few people were suspected of mass buying to resell

especially the WOT codes that were selling for about half there value

I only started to post since last year even though I have been a member since 2010. I reckon six to nine months. That's fair enough. And I get the whole vested interest thing. Am curious about what's available to buy on MM but sometimes the anticipation of something is almost as good as the thing itself. To quote Bill Watterson.

If its about contributing to the forums then surely the most valued members should be the ones who bought, say £2000+ worth of kit from the OCUK store in the last year as without the store there would be no forum..?

The MM is a vicious place for experienced users. You post a price that you feel is really fair and the next thing you know you have half a dozen forumites beating you down with big sticks until they get the price they want!! Brutal they are. Brutal!! :D:p:D

Typical MM topic:

Seller: Amazing graphics card of supreme pixels +1, yours for £320
Buyer: Offering 310
Seller: Hmmm, it's heavy to post. I can go to 315
Buyer: I'm on a budget, the wife will kill me, would you do it for 312.50?
Seller: I can knock a quid off and drop to 314, but that's it.
Buyer: Nevermind then, good luck with sale.

Honestly, you see things like that on the MM all the time. Deals being broken for the sake of a couple of quid. Bunch of penny pinchers on there :D:D

Meh in all good time, i lurk daily but don't post that often. I'd say its fair enough.

To be honest, 250 odd posts in 8 years, you could do a bit more if you wanted access. Like getting involved in discussions, i don't really need access as of right now, but i'm sure if i did i would post a few times a day to get it. Doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

How much you may or may not have spent in the Ocuk shop bears no meaning on the forums.

Your 2K+ by the way, that's a drop of water in the ocean...

While we do all we can to maintain a very large user base of the MM, this will always come second to the security/safety of our members. Relaxing the security would be counter productive. It is this security along with the firm but fair moderation and of course the members contributions which makes the MM such a popular place to buy and sell.

The MM is there for members of the OcUK forum community. How much they spend or don't spend in the shop is irrelevant.

As above, it is irrelevant how much you spend in the shop. Your value as a customer ( and it is very much valued) has no bearing or bias on your value as a forum member. We neither have access to your personal details (how much you have spent etc) nor care. Access and moderation is based upon the number, content and manner of posts - not how big your wallet is.

Well I've seen some real bargains struck on mm but whenever I'm after something I always seem to miss them.

Have to keep an eye on it more I suppose.

The amount of carp I have that could go on MM now is stupid, but I appreciate that the post count needs to be 1000. I guess I only post when I have something genuine to input, and most of the time this gets ignored anyway :(

Take part in the random pictures threads etc it's a nice easy way to get post count and actually HAVE to contribute in order to do so, alternatively the gaming sections are always full of threads you can add something to.

MM is fantastic, have spent far too much in there over the years and sold relatively little.. but then again most of my PCs are essentially MM second hand jobs or at least 90% of their components are due to taking advantage of the guys who must have the latest and greatest :D

I'm now nearly 2000 posts in and i don't think I've ever posted anything worth of great mention lol
