Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2010, Yas Island Marina Circuit - Race 19/19

Yeah thought he was going to go off right away, hat off to him tbh. I was very surprised that both Mclarens made a quick start on the dirtier side.

Not sure if this has been said already but if anyone wants to know the music off the BBC coverage today. It was 'Just Drive' by Alistair Griffin. http://www.alistairgriffin.net/

Fitting music I thought.

On another note, who else thought the podium celebrations today were a bit of a fizzler? Thought they would have had a shed load of confetti atleast.

Singapore is interesting, but I have a feeling if it wasn't a night race, it would just be another borefest. It isn't exactly good for racing, it's just different.

Istanbul, China, Bahrain, Valencia are all garbage. Yas Marina and Korea are both passable, but neither are any good for overtaking. I quite like Sepang, the only one of his tracks I do actually like.

Unfortunately, Tilke is here to stay, he's designing the Indian track, the Austin USA track and probably the Russian track (?).

Great, just what we need, 80% of the tracks being used pointless for racing on.

Apparently earlier in the day the GP2 guys on the dirtier side had decent starts too.

I was also surprised Vettel didn't do his normal sweeping across the track antics.

How many races did he win from pole now?

Doesn't the Renault engine run secret-sauce software to retard the exhaust gases in high downforce / low speed conditions? Would explain a lot to do with the better traction.

Really didn't enjoy the snorefest today. Whilst satisfying to see Alonso lose out, the way in which it happened was dull.. Same with Hamilton. Both drivers got screwed by Big Yellow when, if circumstances had been different it would have been a lot close. I dare say Hamilton could have passed Vettel.

All the teams have the same software, although each engine manufacturer will have it tuned slightly differently.

I assume what you mean is running retard to pump exhaust gases through for the blown exhaust - both McLaren and Ferrari have been running this for the latter half of the season. You can hear it in the exhaust note from both cars under braking through slow corners.

i must admit i'm a ferrari fan and not pleased at all about the race i think it is just stupid that the modern cars can't overtake i mean u see a great fast driver stuck behind an average car and driver, but atleast webber didn't win vettel out performed him in the same car every race, webber was a nobody until he had the best car on the grid same with jenson both of them didn't deserve to win the title and also why does everyone hate vettel i think he's a great driver and deserves to be champ

They are only nobodies to those that clearly aren't F1 fans. They were both race winners before this and last season. You don't stay in F1 for years and years by being a nobody. You're only 18 boy, you're not an F1 pundit.

fastest car on the grid same with jenson both of them didn't deserve to win the title

Do you have any idea what a moronic comment this is? Pretty much every single WDC title has been won in one of the fastest car on the grid, they wouldn't win otherwise would they!

you know nothing about F1 from what i just read

Who let the child in? lol

Boring race, Well done to finger boy for winning but that race should have been so much more.

It really is annoying watching two of the fastest and best overtakers in F1 at the moment, In faster cars stuck behind unable to overtake. If a overtake was possible I'm pretty sure it would have been Lewis or Alonso you would have put your bets on (maybe kob as he is nuts)

schumacher gets flamed for in over at autosport almost every week like when last race the team made the inteligent decision to get him stuck behind a force india that in dry practice was some 5km faster at the speed trap.

people were claiming msc "just didnt want to overtake"

same crap as aus when he was stuck behind a torro rosso when it was schumacher he was just ****

then when it was alonso or hamilton a few races later it was finally a problem with the cars

I have to admit that was a pretty dull race and certainly didn't do the billing credit. Unlike many others I don't agree that Vettel deserved the title, I know it is very difficult to overtake in F1 but he never seems to go past anyone (at this point I'm sure I'll be posted a link to a youtube video to prove me wrong).

He just seems like a time trial driver, he puts in a stonking qualifying lap and then uses his cars advantage to rule the race, if he doesn't end up on pole he does nothing. If it was Hamilton in Vettel in the same car I don't think he would have stood a chance.

Flame suit on.

Awesome season completely stifled at the end by a ridiculously bad track. Can count the number of overtakes on one hand that race.

Wish they would stop going for super fancy pit lane tunnels and extravagant over-track buildings and design a track that actually has some ****ing over taking spots.

Race would have been best of the season if Alonso/Webber/Hamilton were actually able to give it their all.

Erm, how does that make him undeserving? He beat Webber in equal machinery. Fastest quali lap, check. Storm off into the distance, check. I would agree that Hamilton would do better in the car, but that does not make Vettel any more undeserving. Hell, the top 5 all had some pretty shocking results this season. Plus, Vettel has led many more races, only for his car to give up in some way or other. I really wasn't supporting Vettel, but after a mid season dip, the latter part of the season has been flawless from him. Especially when others around him have seriously let the pressure get to them.
