Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2011, Yas Marina Circuit - Race 18/19

He [Vettel] truely is amazing in Qualifying.

He's also amazing in the races, too.
In fact, overall, he is an amazing driver.

We can only hope that next year Ferrari and McLaren can build a car which is slightly better than the RBR...otherwise, assuming that Vettel improves a little, next year, Vettel will be a triple World Champ, this time next year.

I think if everybody has a similarly performing car next year, Alonso is now about the only driver who will be able to give Vettel a close run.

About time for Barichello to quit isn't it? Can't ever see him getting on the podium and he's not getting any younger. With the good personality he has though, I can see the BBC offering him a microphone at some point.

He's doing the best he can with the car he's been given. Can't really ask much more than that. That Williams is a pig of a car. Stick him in at Force India and you'll have a good pairing with Di Resta there.

But Barichello started his F1 career before the pyramids were built, and he's never won a championship. Why is he still not in a top car?

Really don't understand why people get so wound up by Vettel being on pole/in front/winning. If he's the fastest driver out there then that's where he deserves to be. Would these people seriously advocate artificially slowing him down just so it's a "better spectacle" ?

Yeah I agree with that. And it'll make next year more exciting to see who, if anyone, can take vettel down so to speak. Most sports have a whizzkid that everyone tries to beat. Like Usain Bolt for instance. Mike Tyson when he was at his best. Ali, Schumacher, Federer, etc.

No and nobody has suggested anything of the sort, so quite which orifice you've pulled that stupid notion from i'm not sure.

That doesn't stop it getting rather tedious seeing the same person win everything, just as it was bloody tedious back in the days that Schumacher was pretty much guaranteed a win before the weekend began.

What people want to see is the other teams catch up so Vettel is really worked for his victories, at the moment he's cruising to half of his victories without breaking a sweat.

It is not the fact that he wins everything that annoys me, it is the fact that every race, in FP they run slow, and the media say "Mclaren and Ferrari have caught up and should be on pole", and then in Q1+2, they are still faster than Vettel, even Webber is up with him.
then suddenly on the last lap of Q3, Vettal suddenly finds tenths of second from "apparently" nowhere and takes pole. He then just runs away with the race, even though FP times showed he shouldn't be that much faster.

I know it is RB playing with everyone else, but it seriously annoying.

How would people react if every golf tournament, player A was ten shots off the lead for the first three rounds and then the final round they shot fifteen shots better than everyone else.

I see if you do this consistently, you are either mildly unsporting, or you are cheating somehow by turning something off in FP to make it last, and then turning it on during Q3 and the race.

I know people will say this is ridiculous, but it is how I feel.

Now I love all things Jenson, but his 'tasche is appalling. Get rid of it, son.

With Vettel on pole and likely to dominate once again, all one can hope for now is Lewis getting a bad start and having a racing incident or two with Massa. :D

It probably is about time and Brazil would be an appropriate place for a final outing.

He's still probably a handy driver, even now, but I can't see anyone taking him on. The young driver market is getting a bit crowded.

He had a top car at Ferrari, just some unknown bloke called Schumacher called the shots. He had a top car at Brawn but let Button get too far ahead too early and left his charge too late.

Good point.

Barrichello has driven title winning cars, but has always been outperformed by his team-mate, when it counted.

He's a decent No.2 driver...but that's it.

And besides, there are so many young drivers out there, why not give them a chance?

Watched it on the TV for the first time in years and my internet has finally come back on. Was so disappointed vettel managed to beat the McLarens it would have been great to see them both on the front row. I have a feeling we'll see vettel disappear off into the distance after the first lap again as a result but some good (if you can call it that on this circuit?!) racing further down the field. Just hope the DRS zones make there be at least some overtaking
