Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2011, Yas Marina Circuit - Race 18/19

He had a top car at Ferrari, just some unknown bloke called Schumacher called the shots. He had a top car at Brawn but let Button get too far ahead too early and left his charge too late.

Now I am a huge Jenson fan but brawn made some rather curious decisions early on in 2009 that compromised Rubens chances to get close to Jenson ini the races. I even remember posting on here at the time that they clearly favoured one driver for a push to the title. Who can blame brawn though it was a tried and tested formula. Had they not done that vettel would have just won his third title on the bounce.

Anyway nice to see Alonso say some nice things about Lewis and how he's the driver on the grid that could win in a car that wasn't the class of the field :)

Ruebens got absolutely slaughtered at Brawn, JB was just too good in the other car for him to get anywhere close when it mattered

Even when RB was 2nd to Jenson he was wayyyyyy behind in time (early in the season) - and quite often when RB did manage to win a race later in the season, JB was right up behind him

RB was never a leading driver, very nice guy but thats about it

If last year is anything to go by, this is going to be a borefest. The FIA have introduced a long DRS zone, to prevent the overtaking problems of this track...but we have to wait and see if this helps at all.

Another point of note is that the top drivers have all qualified roughly, where you'd expect them to finish in the race. Perhaps Alonso might be able to finish in the top3. What this means is that we are likely to see most drivers able to hold position (like in India) - ie. a procession.

The only chance we have of some excitement today, is if Hamilton can take the lead and prevent Vettel from time trialling.

I was also pondering what F1 has to offer in the next few years. Well, if you are not a Vettel or RBR fan...F1 could be uninteresting, much like what we saw with Ferrari/MS (2000-2004). For German F1 fans though, the future certainly looks bright.

Watched Quali yesterday on my phone.

Gonna watch pre show on touchpad in Starbucks and making a pub in London put the F1 on at 1pm. Might come back to Starbucks to watch the forum afterwards too before I catch a train home.
