Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2011, Yas Marina Circuit - Race 18/19

the time when Lewis crashed into the back of Jenson? You will have a hard time convincing people here about that not being a racing incident...
Awful conditions, JB said he didn't see Lewis and the telemetry says he took the same line.
No chance with that my friend. LH has been beaten fair and square, no-one else to blame but himself.

I didn't blame him I understand why Jenson hit him but it's pointless to keep looking at where Jenson lost points and say none where his fault and then not consider he had a part in losing Lewis points. Or that not all lewis's points lost were his fault either.

All that matters now is the points on the board, Jenson has had his best ever season and is still marginally ahead of a team mate whose had a total mare and who has still out qualified him by quite a margin.

Neither of them had a shot at the championship so it really doesn't matter.

I wouldn't say it's JB's best season...wins in 6 of the first 7 GP's would do that for me, in a car shoved together with an engine it wasn't designed with...
However, still doesn't matter, JB will finish above LH and will be his first team mate EVER to do it. Regardless of what kind of season each has had, LH has been beaten, fair and square, for the first time by someone in equal machinery.

That doesn't mean anything though if you look at the bigger picture, it's purely down to Lewis having a horrific season in terms of race finishes rather than Button actually out pacing him.

Come next season Hamilton will be amongst the favourites to challenge for the championship again with Button a long shot.

Can I have some of what you've been smoking?

AND?
Lewis won more in 2010 so what...what's the big deal?
All this Lewis done this and Lewis done that is like being back in Kindergarten.

Perhaps, but it's first time a team mate has beaten him, and he's the only F1 driver of any note not to be beaten before by a team mate. I'd say it's a pretty big thing, even Alonso couldn't do what Button has done this season...
Perhaps you don't find it worthy of much, but I feel a lot of others do!

Obviously the mirrors are racist, no doubt the stewards made sure of that, it's silly to even consider double standards to be at play here

ps3ud0
i love this mirrors excuse..

how come at monza were lead to believe schumacher knew where lewis was down to the last milimetre? but everytime lewis has a coming together with someone its always because the mirrors dont work

Who has beaten Alonso?

I'm getting old I cannot remember even in his minardi days getting beaten

Alonso didn't do it for one reason, Whitmarsh wasn't in charge. I doubt very much even with the season Lewis has had he would have done it with Ron in charge. Whitmarsh seems to allow much more of a free playing field than Ron ever did. Ron signed no2's then did his upmost to unsettle a driver to make sure the no1 son stayed happy.

Also Alonso took on a hamilton having a very good season, something he hasn't had this year.

And what has that got to do with anything? Beaten fair and square, debate it as much as you like, the team messed up 2 decent points finishes for JB if you want to split hairs...
It doesn't matter at all if Hamilton has had a bad season or JB has had a great season, overall he's scored less points...it's now going to be 1-1, let's see who wins overall shall we? History books will show he lost to his team mate. End of. Hamilton's one impressive stat, something he could say that I can't think anyone else could say has gone. Can anyone name a driver who has won a WDC who has never been beaten by his team mate?

Hahaha was posted just after your post Skeeter. I'm sure he already knew the answer, just surprised that he can't see the significance of it. I have no axe to grind really, just the pro Hamilton guys have to realise that he's not going to be the messiah that everybody first thought, he's been beaten by his team mate, and Vettel appears a much better champion and rounded person to boot...

Hamilton's first season (against Alonso), was stunning.
Many, including me, had never seen anything like this before.
Based on this, it was felt that Hamilton would go on to achieve great things.
I'm not going to bother arguing about what happened in 2007 (Alonso was taken through hell in that season, where it got to a point where Ron Denis and some other members of management were not talking to him - something I've never come across - and McLaren were even forced to have an FIA delegate in their garage, to oversea McLaren's workings, as it was felt that they might sabotage Alonso's attempt at the World Title).

In any case, 2011 was Hamilton's poorest F1 year. Button has beaten him, by being "on it". IMO, this was Button's best season, as he was able to beat Hamilton, in some races, even in dry conditions. For me, Canada was the turning point.

The way I see it is that this season is over...I'm already looking to 2012 now, hoping that RBR don't make another car capable of destroying the field.

One thing I noticed is that before the Summer break, RBR, Ferrari and McLaren were neck and neck. When the season restarted, RBR came back with a car which was way faster.

The sequence of race wins were as follows:

Button (Canada)
Vettel (Euro)
Alonso (Britain)
Hamilton (Germany)
Button (Hungary)
------ SUMMER BREAK ------
Vettel (Belgium)
Vettel (Italy)
Vettel (Singapore)

This could've just been a coincidence or down to Vettel's dip in form. But perhaps next year, McLaren and Ferrari need to continue working (on non-factory tasks), throughout the Summer break.

Hamilton still holds most of the rookie records, and i expect will do for a while.

perhaps...but Vettel has most of the youngest records now. Also has got most laps led in a season and most poles in a season. I can't see a rookie coming into a top car like Hamilton did either for a long time, it only happens once in a while, and for that team to also have a good car that season happens even less.

Mclaren (but more specifically Hamilton) have led fewer laps year on year.

Code:
Year Laps led
2007 321
2008 294
2009 182
2010 100
2011 150

They have to come out of the blocks with a strong car in 2012. They can't keep playing catch-up if they want to take the title from Red Bull.
