had to be done :D

Hamilton is still the best racer out there by far.

Most intelligent driver? Certainly not.

This is why you have to admire vettel and his perfect driving. Vettel puts his job before everything, he studys everything, he gets involved in everything to do with the team.

Hamilton use to do this before he met P.Diddy and his pussy cat doll. When he won the championship, yes he may have been with her at the time but he still had the championship on his brain. He just needs to get his head screwed back on and have a capable car underneath him and he'll be giving Vettel a run for his money.

Hate to say it but Vettel is a true champion. (who gets a lot of luck aswell)..... Lewis would be if he didn't of got mixed up in the celebrity life.

With Vettel out and Button having car trouble - All Hamilton had to do was drive a clean race from the front. Not something that should be particularly challenging to do. I don't see this race as evidence for Hamilton "turning a corner".

Well that's pretty much all Vettels had to do all year and all of a sudden he's a god. All Hamilton showed was how easy it is to do that when you have the fastest car, even with his run of form.

As said, he only had to keep up a fairly good pace because his team mate had problems. He was in the fastest car probably...bit like Vettel for 90% of the races.

Lewis is going through the same thing that Jenson "playboy" Button did. Except Jenson almost lost his F1 career over it :p

to be fair most of those comments came from a certain (ex) Renault boss - who cant really talk - being the biggest playboy in the F1 paddock, and who had personally managed drivers in the other car both seasons JB was there (ie he had other axes to grind too)

JB was no angel - but considering how hard he worked for BAR / Honda (and the numerous people through that team that have commented) I think Flavio is the last person that needs to be listened to on the subject.

The 2nd Williams contract (which was around the same time as JB was trying to prove he wasnt just all of the above) and escape probably did more damage even though it was probably more bad advice from the manager's stand point than JB's specifically.

Just imagine the points difference if JB hadnt had the two car failures or two KERS issues (there was one much earlier in the season also) and had 100% reliability like Lewis.......Lewis is quite lucky

Personally, I think RBR are aggressively under-filling the tyres, and it was just too low on pressure from the warm up up.

Hence, it slipped off the rim when it was put under load.

This was mentioned in commentary, and it makes more sense than some shenanigans with the rubber etc

Im sure Red Bull need to know what caused the tire to deflate. Simply saying 'oh well, $#!@ happens' isnt the attitude of a top racing team. They want to know what happened so they can prevent this form happening again.

TBH Hamilton has never been that intelligent a driver. Remember China 2007 with his rear tyre down to the canvas? He was waiting for the call from his team to come in and change tyres, being spoonfed by the team.

I don't see JB or Di Resta waiting for the call from 'Uncle Ron' to come in and change tyres; they'd surely be intelligent enough to feel the problem with the tyre and demand a pit stop from their team.

Hamilton is a genuine balls-out racer and a joy to watch. However it has taken some time for the thinking to come too, which is why Sunday's race was so important as he managed the gap to Alonso while also not destroying his tyres; something he was all to often guilty of in the past.

I don't think people are here to babysit someone who frankly gets paid a fortune to drive a car, and who should perhaps learn to man up and get on with it instead of being miserable...
Now that's probably not everyone's opinion, but basically the guy has probably brought most of his problems on himself this season, bad taste jokes and his go at the stewards really didn't help him either. The penalty situation is another bad mark...

"Hey Lewis ... I know you've had 2 close friends die recently and split from your long term girlfriend but just man up yeah?!"

I've never understood why people expect sports stars to be emotionless robots.

...he does get paid millions of pounds a year y'know!

Ah that old chestnut, money doesn't help fix emotional pain.

Don't get me wrong yes Hamilton could have been more professional than he has this season, but there are completely reasonable mitigating circumstances. And while he has made mistakes this year I can understand his frustration with some of them (Maldonado in particular)
