Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2012, Yas Marina - Race 18/20

Meh, entertaining but still not good race really. Safety cars giving Vettel's 3rd(well 4th, button gifting him 3rd), stupid overtakes causing most of Vettel's passes on faster cars.

Can't believe Webber got away with no penalties, he was a douche on Maldonado, but more crucially he was terrible against Massa, then he used not making the corners to go full speed and cut Massa off on the next corner by basically rejoining in an incredibly dangerous way, at best that is a stop go penalty though that isn't far from black flag.

Likewise Grosjean I think is at fault because Perez was off the track fine but was well on and on the racing line right behind another car on the racing line, there was no room, there was never going to be any room. Punishing Perez is mental as the only reason he was off track was he was actually being safe and trying to avoid Di Resta who really should have conceded much like Button did, before the next turn, Perez went wide I feel because he wasn't sure Di Resta wouldn't smack into him, if anyone was to get a penalty I'd say Di Resta and/or Grosjean.

Webber though, as they are saying now with Hill saying he cut onto the Apex, was shocking, the more I see it coming back on the track at full speed and into the apex of the corner is black flag material, if he'd simply smashed into Massa it would and should have been a black flag, and insanely dangerous. When you cut the corner you can't come back on in that kind of way, same as Maldonado against hamilton at Valencia, is absolutely reckless and pretty much ruined Massa's race.

I still can't decide as well, it still seems like Webber hit Grosjean when he had a pretty large amount of room and plenty of warning to go around him, maybe not.

I did say, Vettel pits and then Webber causes a safety car ;)

as others have said today, and I've said for over a month, Hamilton left because even with the best car on track he can't trust Mclaren to turn it into a win... becoming a joke, but thank god their pit stops are 0.2seconds faster than others(although WAY slower on average due to screw ups), way to focus on the right parts of the race guys, brilliant.

Lastly, Button, lol, Mclaren was by a country mile the fastest car out there today, and the Mclaren was "weak" on the soft tyre and even better on the hard tyre, and Hamilton ripped everyone a new one on the weak tyre. Button could and should have qualified second and should have won that race after Hamilton was out, anyone who rates Button as in the same league as Hamilton is kidding themselves.

where is the red button neither of my sky boxes bbc channels have a red button..... getting rate rage on here...

If my sky boxs do the red button, yours should. One of them is ancient.

Go to the bbc channel, wait for a minute or so and then press thed red button on the remote.

One last thing I forgot to say, happy Kimi won, though a shame he and the team couldn't win by being the fastest car. Love Kimi, radio was brilliant, interview was epic, by far the best character on the grid. Really hope they have a car next year where Kimi is mixing it up for wins more frequently.

By doing absolutely little of note or outstanding. I hate for a title to be won in those circumstances. Just has a consistently quick car that he has been able to plod home in decent positions without really mixing it.

I love kimi but he's done little bar plod round on his own.

:)

EDIT: I think it's really unfair to say he just plods around too. Unlike Lewis, Button, Webber et al, he is consistent, which is what the team needed. They're in points regularly and he isn't wild crashing out on occasions causing issues for the engineers. He has literally driven the team this season, Lotus wouldn't be anywhere near where they are without him. For this I think he would definitely deserve the title if he somehow had managed to clinch it, because he doesn't fit your sensational viewer lust for crash and bang doesn't mean he shouldn't deserve.

Someone needs to introduce a bar of soap to Vettels mouth - Publicly !!

Great win for Kimi - at last, although a shame for Lewis.

JB did well to hold off Vettel for as long as he did, I'm pretty sure Alonso will be buying him a beer laterz.

Just how lucky can Vettel get ? Gifted a brand new set of tyres at the end due to safety car. Such a Jammy git.

Exciting race from what I was expecting to be a snore-fest though.

Perez took the racing line through the chicaine while alongside Di Resta, forcing him off the track. That was the first part of his penalty *the drive through*

He then went off the track and instead of coming back on safely, he just pointed it at the apex of the corner and looked surprised when he cut across Grosjean. Caused an avoidable collision - there's the second part of the penalty - taking it up to the 10 second stop/go

Oh come on had Hamilton not broke and Vettel not been stuffed by his team yesterday he would have plodded to third again at best. He did well to hold off Alonso and it was a good drive, no different to others he made this year when others haven't had issues and he came third or fourth.

Other than that he has kept out of the mix and been bringing the car home by jumping away from battles or not being fast enough.

Maybe that's world champion material for you, fair enough.

Seems some people will never be happy with Vettel's performance. Getting from dead last (twice, near enough) to on the podium is one hell of an achievement for any driver, even with a bit of safety car luck.

Great race, if only for lunatics failing epically to pass

Chuffed for Kimi, deserved it.

Think Webber should have had a penalty, was bad first time around but to do it twice?! Left Maldo nowhere to go and was blatantly obvious what was going to happen.

A bit a safety car luck? He lucked into two safety cars meaning the two larger gaps he had to get the hammer down and close the gap never happened. Still he did have to over take a lot of cars on track so did show skill. Even if I do dislike him he showed why this year is likely to be his 3rd in a row championship win.
Can't remember what thread it was that I said if I had a choice it would be Adrian Newey I'd have on my team over everyone else, Some disagreed at the time... While he is at redbull it's going to be hard to beat them even beyond 2014.

You mean in the same way knip hates Alonso?

You mean in the same way a lot of people on here hate Vettel?

Ah yes.. That way. Bet you wouldn't dare say bugger all to them though.

I didn't say nuffink! :D

Just watched it delayed after getting home. Well done to Kimi. Some half decent crashes, and a couple of giggles, mainly at Vettel shouting about riccardo, before smashing the polystyrene, and Kimi telling his mechanics to shut up/then swearing in the interview.

I'll do the obligatory, damn you Fred now!
