I hope Red Bull’s car next year is utterly **** and they’re fighting for points never mind podiums and wins. I hope Lewis, George and Mercedes absolutely demolish the rest of the field. They’ll be hurting and I suspect Lewis will be visiting the factory quite a few times to get the team even more focussed, something he rarely does apparently. He might even do some Sim work, again something he rarely does.
History says yes, but that would be for both Merc and RB as they were the title protagonists

Mclaren and Ferrari may well be back at the front once more

I'm not expecting anything to happen with the title and don't really want to see it decided that way now that the event is done. Its neither of the teams fault this has happened, its the FIA's and i hope they get made to look absolute idiots by Mercedes lawyers and get the shaft big time. If only for the sake of the integrity of the sport, the rules and the regulations.

-The above was all done whilst knowing Max had brand new soft tyres compared to Hamilton's old hard compound. Total disregard to Carlos Sainz in third or racers battling it out for the top ten.
-As race director you are there to control the race and all it competitors not just a single entity or an entire championship.
These two points in particular don't sit well with me. The remaining drivers in those lower positions were also bewildered by the decision and weren't even given a chance to race. Masi obviously forgot his job title is Race Director and not Championship Director; just like how penalties are decided on the transgression rather than the outcome, the same was not applied in this instance.

Amusing to see people genuinely arguing that Hamilton could or should have somehow been able to defend an entire lap on 40 lap old hard tyres vs a car on new soft tyres.

He didn't even try to block Max, he left the door wide open, sure he might have compromised his exit and lost out anyway but to not even try was surprising..

zzzzz not another dominant season just by one team, that’s another thing this sport doesn’t need.

But Hamilton gets stripped of the title he would have won had the rules been followed and they finished under the safety car? Punishing the FIA isn't enough, the wrong has to be righted.
Listen, i would love for ham to get teh title and max stripped off it but cant see that happening.

The most that would happen is FIA get thrown the book and that woudl teach FIA not to bend over rules for next year onwards

Max was on soft tyres, if he goes to the inside, Max goes outside and easily out accelerates him down the next section of track anyway.

If anything by leaving the inside open early, Hamilton at least had the small chance that he gets a run at him on the second long straight where his engine/aero/slipstream rather than his tyres provide an advantage and maybe leads into the last section which is much harder to pass on.

You know, you’re right. I hope Red Bull are fighting for any points at all and McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes are battling at the front. The Veteran 7 time world champion vs the young pretenders.

Not sure on this take. Going back to the dark days of F1 when a single team dominates is not healthy for the sport at all (or any sport for that matter)

I'd rather that than have the rules just arbitrarily made up as the RD sees fit and have the results manipulated by that.

At least with a dominant car and driver you can appreciate the skill and technical/design work.

What is there to appreciate about a sport with no rules and distinctly biased manipulation? Might as well watch a film.

You see everyone is believing the hype which is all it is, merc have the best technical team, the best engine and the most money.
The rule change is being billed as the great leveler but it will be the opposite. The order will stay the same except Merc will be better prepared.

Sky have introduced hype as the main marketing tool and formula-1 need hype desperately.
Paradoxically, F1 thrives on money and that is why money will always win (with the odd hiccup or match fixing), haas and Williams are not going to suddenly become front running.

What about all the other drivers who punted people off and made them retire and only got a 10s penalty?
Exactly. My point was that this championship was not made up entirely of this one decision. It took a whole year to get to this point... The race management's decisions have been a little...odd... all along. And not only in favour of one driver.

I'd take another year of Seb finger wagging if it's won fairly, and we all know how that went down :D. It feels like Masi rolled the dice to spice it up, completely shafted the driver that had earned that win and doubled down on the rule which is meant to give him control of the SC in extenuating circumstances... not a standard race restart.

Seems like Mercedes are dropping their appeal unfortunately as Hamilton asked Toto forget about it and move on . Was absolutely raging yesterday after that **** show but is what it is and on to next year we go...
Hope so, he's right there's more to life

I think they will still go after Masi. Im sure Toto will sleep well at night knowing he won the constructors and that Masi is no longer around.

But yeh not the best look in the world to be going after Max.
