Accident.

Should be getting a nicer car as a courtesy car. When my friends 1.0l corsa was side ended, he got a 2l TD Avensis. And another got a civic in place of an old scrap worthy fiesta.

If you want a better car, speak up. She's going to be paying for it anyway (or rather her insurer).

Im going to ring the insurance company tommorow. I'm not havig some Ford Ka, takes the **** tbh, she runs into me then i get a Ford Ka as a Hire for god knows how long, bloody joke tbh.

Without being too funny, there doesn't seem to be that much damage to the car?

Sounds to me like you're being a little OTT about the whole thing - sure its a crash, but you hardly lost a limb did you now?

You will probably get the car back in less than a week...

Nah i don't feel im going OTT, just bit shook up never had a crash before, but i am grateful as it could have been worse, and if i have my car back within a week, great!

It wouldn't suprise me if the insurance company wrote your car off - anything that has even a chance of being more than superficial and they'll write it off to avoid any potential liability. Try and find a overpriced equivilent of your car to show them the 'cost to replace'.

Important thing is your in one peice. I'm sure the whiplash payout will help soften the blow! My bro just got 6k a month ago for the whiplash and 3k for the car (old corsa written off). Crazy money!
amazing how a weeks worth of a stiff neck is worth 6k these days :/
discusting how people claim this unless it is very serious and actually does effect you to the point you can no longer function how you could before the accident.

Funny how the government blame mobile phone users , personally old people are the biggest danger on the road... Why don't they have a test for over 60's just safety tests thats all they need

I've had to avoid old ladies pulling out in front of me because they are hesitating loads of time. Old people on the road really are dangerous, they hesitate too much, slow reactions and usually have a queue of traffic behind them :P

Glad to hear your ok, Tom. :)

I was involved in a similar sort of accidet at around the same speeds but was hit by a Fiat Ducato LWB van.

I got checked out at the hospital as I like sports and didn't want any future regrets. They confirmed that I didn't have whiplash (I didn't think I had it but never have so not sure what to expect) but lots of bad bruising/swelling.

Every morning for the next 4-5weeks I would wake up with my upper body all stiff and ached for around an hour until it seemed to loosen up.

My car ended up as a Cat-B write off as the chassis was badly twisted.

I claimed for the cost of the car and my bruising. I ended up with the amount I wanted for the car and also around £1500 for my injuries/incurred costs (around 50.50 split). Incurred costs as the guy who hit me wouldn't declare his insurer to me so I ended up getting insured on mums car for the months that this went on, she has woman's insurance so to add a bloke (i.e. me!) cost loads! Plus various admin. fees.

So i picked up a couple of hundred for the injuries. I would much rather still have my Ghia X today, no injuries and worst of all, a LOT of hassle, 20-30letters hours on the phone etc... Helphire couldn't help me as the guy had no insurance records (turned out it was a trade policy).

Got there in the end but damn it takes a lot of work and time!

If I can advise you further let me know, hope you are all OK mate!

i bet that hurt. i couldnt tell from your original post whether you were actually expecting the impact at all? if it takes you by suprise i bet that stings more!

I remember a long time ago on my second driving lesson a woman crashed into the back of us at about 5 mph, it felt like I had just stalled the car....but the noise was pretty scary....can't imagine what it would feel like at 30mph.

That looks to be a really low speed impact, my Mondeo was far far worse when someone ploughed into it at around 30mph.

Insurers messing me about with a hire vehicle, so iv'e rang Help Hire for them to deal with the Car hire only should be expecting a call back soon.

You might wanna mention the whiplash when they call back as well!

They can sort the repairs out (if repairable) on your car at a franchised dealer if you want too......

wish i'd known about Help Hire before i put the claim in with Direct Line, apparantly UK Assistance are repairing my car and it will be up to the Ford Spec, if any special work had to be done i was told it would be taken to the nearest Ford Dealer, i can arrange for the work myself through Ford but apparantly is a hassle and prolongs the time it takes to repair etc.

You can still go with them if your not happy with the solution provided by her Insurance Company!

What you have to remember here is ITS NOT YOUR FAULT and its your desision where and how you have your car fixed. Not her insurance company who will be trying their hardest to save money! Because HelpHire are not an insurance company they dont force you to use a poor repairer.

Have you spoken to Help Hire Yet mate?
