Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

When i returned a faulty monitor to OCUK they arranged to have it picked up by DPD. If you're sending it back because you changed your mind then it might be worth asking OCUK if they'd kindly arrange a DPD collection if you paid the cost or something? Nothing to lose by asking.

Oh, sorry. I removed them, figured someone might have been interested :)

I read through the user reviews on the site and nobody mentions any dead pixels, luckily. Seems to be the glow that's mentioned more often. But I have seen a few dead pixel mentions on another site, though it seems to be a handful of mentions that is reverberating into "7 chickens" at this point. We'll see.

I'm crossing my fingers and I hope I get a good one. Then my ROG Swift will be demoted to secondary monitor.

What is this talk of dead pixels? Am I likely to get one? For 749 euros, its worth a try...

As long as I don't get dead pixels. Too much OCD in this one!

Like with any monitor, you are at risk of getting one with dead pixels. I haven't seen any monitor to date which hasn't been reported as having a dead pixel, or several, in its range. So it's just a gamble you have to take. Depends on the amount, where they are located etc. sometimes you might never even notice them unless you really go hunting for them.

Someone reported they had some dead pixels on their monitor and then the usual mill starts and it blows into a big circus. Especially at this point where the monitor isn't even officially released and you can count on your hands how many people have received one, then things tend to get blown a bit out of proportion, in my experience.

Barely anyone even has the screen yet. I really wouldn't worry about a plague of dead pixels or anything yet:)

Also no competitor pricing talk please guys!

I wouldn't worry about it if Acer had a good RMA policy, I'm just saying, it still says on the OCUK website that the warranty is on-site, while it appears not to be the case. I think that's a big part of the whole concern and confusion.

Have you read the US Overclock.net thread? Thats all they were talking about this weeknd just gone.
Then up pops another source for them in Germany and in one of the reviews it mentions dead pixels.

Instead of trying to calm people down about dead pixels you really need to put out a statement regarding the so called online warranty which definitely is not included but advertised on OCUK product pages.

I find it curious that something like the 970 vram issue gets an official OCUK statement yet something that is potentially more customer affecting gets a silent "no comment" line from OCUK despite numerous requests for clarity when you are possibly breaking advertising rules with false product descriptions of the warranty offered.

I just read through the last 40-some pages, spanning over this weekend and I see nothing out of the ordinary. I've seen 3 people mentioning dead pixels in that thread, a guy had one. I did on the other hand, see 5-7 people saying they got a screen with no issues. Majority of the discussion was people arguing over warranty IF they got a monitor with Dead Pixels, discussing how to get rid of them and then a long debate over calibration.

Apparently I'm missing something. Because that isn't out of the ordinary, dead pixels is a regular occurrence and there's a reason why manufactures / companies allow for a certain number before it falls under a warranty outside of the 14-day refund buffer.

The majority of the doom'n'gloom over dead pixels I've read right here, in this thread.

You missed the ones where that were reporting 14-16 dead pixels. One guy got 19. Acer won't swap it out unless you have more than 16.

I do hope the people looking forward to this monitor get what they hope for and its as magical as the reviews have said. I am not saying to anyone be put off with buying it its entirely upto the individual whether they want to purchase the monitor.

Personally I will never buy another Acer monitor and probably never buy one from OCUK. I think I am going to take my leave to be honest and just disappear from the monitor forum. I said my piece and reported what happened to me its there for all to see so enjoy your new monitors.

Caveat emptor

And a Google search reveals that's over 60+ pages back. So your 'discussion over the weekend' comment was blown a bit out of proportion.

As for lots of dead pixels, sure it sucks but at least they are covered by the warranty.

Dead pixels happen, even on high-end quality monitors and it can happen in manufacturing, all the way down to shipping. Right now the sample of people is way, way too small for this weird attempt at trying to run a scare campaign.

I don't work for OcUK or have anything to do with the shop I'm afraid so I can't comment on support or warranty. I've not read the overclock.net thread but have seen reports elsewhere of people getting the display with no issues. Seems from above someone else has read the thread and the issues aren't nearly as bad as you're making out. I get the issue with the warranty question though.

Just seen Linus' video and the TFT Central review.

Wow, what a monitor. So to be a really picky so-and-so, let's see it in a 34" version and they'll have all of my yes.

I find it absolutely maddening than in mainland Europe this monitor sells for 750 euros (about £550). That's a heck of "tax" we have to pay to get stuff sent over the Channel :(

I emailed a few places none seem to deliver to the UK. If they did though I dont see why the warranty wouldn't still be valid.
