I took the plunge a few days ago and pre ordered this screen on OcUK despite the acer warranty horror story in the other topic.

Hopefully this screen does come with a onsite warranty as the OcUK description suggests you get with it not a standard warranty.

There has still been no official word from OCUK as to whether ANY of the onsite warranty they advertise are true onsite. I can tell you categorically Acer do not offer onsite warranty for any of their monitors as standard unless you buy the Acer Warranty Plus @ about £25 or so.
When you get the screen how would you actually know if you have an onsite warranty or not? I assume there is a way to check what kind of warranty you have using the Acer website itself?
I will be checking as soon as I get the screen and if it is not a onsite warranty you get then I guess I will just need to buy the onsite warranty directly from Acer asap.
I take it when buying a warranty directly from Acer, you need to supply your screen model number and proof of where you bought it from and the date of purchase?
Requirements
- This Acer Advantage Program must be activated within 365 days of your Acer product's purchase date.
- Proof of your Acer product's purchase date required, such as a copy of an invoice or a sales receipt
Alas still on S27A950D..
Want to hear the latest ! Acer still have my case open and when I asked why they are waiting for me to send my proof of purchase to the Escalation team for the refund. Even though I have already sent it and got a refund over two weeks ago. Even if Acer did offer on-site warranty as true on-site I bet they would muck that up too!
TV & Monitor Pixel Policy
Please be aware that all of our Suppliers and thus Overclockers UK conform to the ISO 13406-2 standard - the acceptable number of dead pixels based on screen size and resolution. Information on this can be found through any major search engine typing "ISO 13406-2" and the monitor brand name. Products with dead pixels of equal to or less than those defined within the ISO 13406-2 standard will not be accepted for return.

I sincerely wish everyone who ordered from Acer good luck in not getting one with any problems. Because if you do, Acer's warranty is just as bad if not worse than Asus's warranty, i.e. extremely miserable.
Getting it the day it releases from Acer is just not worth it when it'll eventually hit stores and then you have a much better return policy in case you get one that does have problems. At least with a BnM or Amazon/Newegg, you can actually return it and try out a new one easily...
Really dissapointing to hear cause I want this monitor but suppose I best wait to see if any contenders are goong to be released.
Does anyone know any incoming monitors that may rival this?
This is Acers and according to that 16 dead pixels before they will do anything about it. The guy who had 19 was fortunate!

To quote a forum member of OC.net with regards to his dead pixels on the XB270HU.....Sounds familiar
So far reading that thread sounds like best advice if you do want to buy this monitor is A) dont be an early adopter and B) double check your return/warranty status and DP policy. Makes you wonder why Acer are offering US customers an $80 discount if you buy from them direct.
