Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

does the swift suffer from backlight bleed?

Not sure you refer to my post, but no, as much as I know. I passed over Swift after realizing that its official thread is dominated recently with complaints, problems etc... This is another example of the screen for like £600 that I would like to be mostly sure I will get a good one.

was just a general question tbh. im happy with the acer ive got, it does defo have bleed bottom corners but i had the same with dells i got. will be also using it for design to ips holds a lot of weight. just trying to look at the pros of the swift v tthis...

Is there anyway to loosen the chassis a little to to minimize the backlight bleed on this screen?

Someone commented here that a lot of the backlight bleed is due to the way the chassis has been fitted together.

I have noticed if I push down on the chassis where I am getting the backlight bleed, the bleed gets worse and
also gets better and less noticeable depending on how pressure you put on the chassis.

cheers for the D3 tips guys but i've tried them all - thought it best to before moaning about it on here. I'm probs going to go back to my £100 1080p Asus seem to get smoother results with V-Sync than with G-Sync and thats a deal breaker for me. Totally gutted.

Have you tried what I mentioned about Cities Skylines earlier?

Yes mate thanks for that. It does fix Skylines but not D3. Seems D3 does not have a true full screen mode and therefore GSync isn't correctly applied or even used at all. I get the best results locking it at 60fps but that's not really what I paid £700 for =S

Yeah, seems Diablo 3 is capped at 60FPS so for that game it's not going to matter what monitor you have, best you can do is run it at 120hz but that won't give you any more frames.

Just give it some time, people will come up with guides on properly opening the monitor and doing small modifications (with duck tape or whatever) for enhancing backlight bleeding.

My backlight bleed has gotten worse a few hours after using it.

I now have backlight bleed in all of the 4 corners similar to the other users screenshots in this thread. I don't particularly want all the
hassle of having to send it back but the bleed is very irritating and annoying especially if viewing anything with a dark background.

I am very happy with the screen thought, just the backlight bleed is a bit of a let down and spoils it for me.

By the way, what part of the OcUK site do you go to get a RMA number, etc for sending your screen back? I am considering
sending mine back for a full refund then purchasing another one in hope the next one I get has no backlight bleed or less
backlight bleed than the current one I have got.

I am not sure what section to choose under WebNote contact forms for getting a RMA number.

I've been on the look out for a new monitor for months and months now, currently using my faithful Dell2405FPW. I'd really like something a touch larger, G-Sync perhaps, maybe 144hz or 4k, I've been looking at the curved displays too.

Nothing has really ticked all the boxes as yet, and ones that have come close I've read many reports of various issues, stuck pixels or excessive bleed.

The only thing I can say is that I (personally) really really cannot understand people dithering about whether to return or not. ~£700 is a lot of money to me, and unless I was 100% happy with every aspect of the monitor it would be going back immediately without question.

Good luck to you all, but I think for me the search and wait continues.

Im in 2 minds as to if im bothered by the issue tbh, because I don't sit at my monitor staring at this:

Anyone else get the same feeling?

DPD didn't actually manage to deliver for me yesterday so mine should be here in the next hour, and I'm home today so they had better not many any more excuses. :p Providing everything goes well I'll be "upgrading" from a U3014 which has a little, barely any backlight bleed and absolutely no stuck/dead pixels (Dell Premium Panel Guarantee seems like something more manufacturers should be doing...), so we'll see how it goes.

My only feeling is disturbed that you have an IE window open. :p

No but seriously, I'm inclined to agree, if it looks good in the games I play I don't really care what it looks like when the screen is completely black or showing a lot of darks, I don't really watch movies on my PC anyway.

IE will always have a place in my heart for simple tasks :D

I do watch movies on my monitor, and feel that if I am staring at the bottom corners of the screen - then i'm probably watching a really bad movie

Playing GTA5 last night was probably the most impressed I have ever been with PC graphics in my life - 1440p 144hz G-sync was just the best experience.

This is my feeling towards it too, no dead or stuck pixels here, same amount of bleeding as the rest, which I agree is a lot for £700 but when using it I haven't noticed it once. Coming from a 1080 60htz 24" monitor, it's crazy how different things feel. I am keeping mine, and although I am not blown away by the quality for £700, I am overall happy.

I have the same issues, lots of white coming from 3 corners, the black isnt black, its cream and on a black background its horrid, My old 2007 monitor shows black as black,

They must have used a 10 tonne press to compress the screens :p

Firstly, those last few pics look far too over exposed :p Trying lowering the exposure setting on your phone if you have one.

Secondly, it won't be an issue for "bright" games, tv shows, films (if you use your monitor for that stuff) but come to dark content, it will annoy you:

- horror genre for all types of media is pretty much full of dark scenes i.e. alien films and games, doom etc.
- films like gravity, interstellar, nolan's batman films

Here is a pic of of my first or second 29um65 during a space scene in gravity, 20% brightness and with room lighting turned on, pic is a bit over exposed but all of those corners was just as noticeable as they are in the pic:

To me that looks absolutely fine especially as cameras always make them look worse than they are. Your at the good end, but very hard to judge from photos but we've seen ones where blacks literally look green/yellow and we take them back as faulty and then push manufacturer to replace.

The first photo is pretty true to what I see with my eyes, second photo is a bit over exposed.

I would agree with you if I was using a brightness of 30+% but not when the screen is set to 0%

I RMA'd my first two screens back as they were beyond awful:

@the guys wanting to RMA/return their screens

Post here instead of using the webnote system

You need to give your order number and post reasons etc.

Anyone know how I stop Windows (10) from resizing all my windows when I switch my monitor off?

I leave the PC on 24/7 as it is my Plex Media Server.

Seems like some sort of handshake issue.
