Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

Gibbo I switched to mine from another ips monitor so I knew about the blacks and glow before buying. What I didn't expect was the level of backlight bleed thats present.

If you want a refund contact OcUK who will take it back and refund.

If you want to try another, contact James in OcUK Returns, who will pass the contact info for an Acer engineer who will arrange an on-site swap out with a new panel which fingers crossed will have less bleed.

Well I don't fancy being 25% down on my outlay so could you get James to supply me the information. I have a thread in the customer service section. Thanks.

Drop a response in there as James monitors CS forum far more than he does these none CS sections.

Would this be the same for a dead pixel as well?, I only have one but it's the middle of the screen, the backlight bleed is annoying in the bottom right but I understand mine isn't as bad as some on here but both together I would want a swop out from Acer if possible, I've left a pixel fixer on while at work today but not convinced these actually work.

Contact James in returns, he will pass onto you the Acer details to get an on-site swap out arranged.

Got this monitor delivered today, certainly very awesome, got one with no defects, coming from 60Hz and No G-Sync the difference is amazing but at the same time I'm missing using my 21:9 1440p Ultrawide, the Acer feels small in comparison, so I might be returning it, not sure yet.

I'm in the same boat - coming to this from an LG 34UM95, so testing to see if the refresh rate and G-Sync are a fair trade off for the superwide pixel real estate (and, it would seem, build quality).

I'll have a play over the weekend and see how they fair...

Hey Guys

Just give me a shout on the C/S thread and I will sort out the details for you.

I guess my question is, is this a one-time thing with Acer, or will they keep swapping it until you get one that's right? I don't care hugely about backlight bleed, I just want one with no dead pixels. My worry would be that Acer might swap it once and then refuse to change it again even if there's a problem. and the option to return to OcUK is gone too as it's technically not the same monitor you guys sent out. Equally I have no intention of having OcUK constantly send me a replacement either, just curious.

Does anyone else feel like this?

I love the monitor so much, but the BLB is just crazy. I know what IPS glow is as I have 2 Dell IPS monitors left and right of my Acer, but didn't know that backlight bleed could be so bad, I've never noticed it on my other screens.

Later tonight I will probably take pictures of my dells + acer and see if you guys think I have one that justifies a swap or not.

Is it a real engineer that comes? Or just a delivery man that delivers one and collects my current one?

I'm really gutted about this monitor as I thought this was the one too :(

Gibbo does not want this grief as much as we don't but does this just show how we buy products has changed so much (Distant selling) that manufactures are finding it easier to scrimp on build quality because you won't know what thing thing is like until you get it delivered, this is a knock on effect of on-line shopping and if an on-ling shop can just turn around and say "we are going to deduct 25% off your refund :mad:WOW

This monitor is too much of a gamble for me (SAD FACE)

Sorry guys I'm a bit confused how they can knock 25% off your refund when it's sent back within 14 days?

Who said they would do that? Well, if you KEPT returning it maybe.

If OCUK start charging 25% of £700 for a perfectly legitimate return of a monitor with excessive bleed/dead pixels... well, let's just say there will be a lot of smelly brown stuff hitting a big spinny thing!

As such OcUK is not willing to keep simply swapping out monitors, of course it could be argued that by law we have to and yes we do, but also the law allows us to charge upto 25% to taking the none faulty monitor back.

OcUK does not want to be in either position, where were losing money on B-grade or having to upset customers by charging them upto 25% for returning under CCR.

.

This is the relevant part of CCR:

"Your right to a refund You should get a refund within 14 days of either the trader getting the goods back, or you providing evidence of having returned the goods (for example, a proof of postage receipt from the post office), whichever is the sooner.

A deduction can be made if the value of the goods has been reduced as a result of you handling the goods more than was necessary.

The extent to which a customer can handle the goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop."

If Acer are doing on site swap outs then they should be taking the returned ones from OCUK and not expect them to be sold as B grade.

What happens if someone gets 3 of them all the same or worse are they just expected to put up with it or take a 25% hit on a refund?

That is correct, if the value of the product has diminished by use or opening of it a deduction can be made up to the full contract price of the item.

If anyone has any queries feel free to give me a shout
