Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

So my xb270hu doesn't have dodgy pixels but has some pretty grim backlight bleed in the bottom right, that's compared to my ancient 1440 ips hazro that cost 400 quid and is falling apart, and 2 ips iiyamas and an ips aoc that all cost 120. i can see the bottom right corner of the panel is maybe pulled forward tight against the frame, this is at 25% brightness gamma 2.2. I am deciding if i can put up with it however there's also been some mad glitches.

i can play all day but then in the evening while playing anything, dirt, gta, killing floor 2, after a short while it starts randomly flashing grey a few times then either crashes the pc and turns off, or the image becomes weirdly pixelated like looking at a 1024 res image but each pixel is split with black lines and the game continues to play but then it crashes the pc when i exit the game. no bsod, can still hear game audio, just unresponsive. then after a few restarts and turning g-sync on and off it will work fine for the rest of the night, that has happened 2 nights in a row. its running on a titan x that was stable on the old hazro which is now second monitor running off dvi, tried swapping display ports, removing oculus drivers, different power sockets in the room and i am picking up another dp cable to try tonight and see if it happens again, is anyone else getting this or has this ever been seen on other gsync panels?

Something we put a stop to by simply detecting when a customer is on his 2nd, 3rd, 4th return of the same item under CCR, at which point the only way to stop such people is 25% re-stocking rule.
Thanks for the clarification, Gibbo. I don't think any reasonable person could object to a restocking fee after multiple returns.

I'm considering spluging for one of the Asus IPS Freesync screens when they arrive in stock and wasn't at all happy about the prospect of losing £125 if it proves to have major quality issues, as far too many monitors do these days. Good to know that won't be the case.

I have just posted a topic in the CS forum for the details of the Acer direct swap out service.

Hopefully James or Bailey on the OcUK staff will respond soon with the details.

Just phoned overclockers and my names now on the list. Waiting for a call from acer for an apparently fully tested screen to be swapped on site. This is the best possible outcome for anyone wanting to keep the monitor but if they mess it up again i'm done.

Gibbo and BG1980, man, I was going to send a webnote or call for a RMA refund today, been busy so couldn't till now, but after your post and BG1980's post seems like that's the way to go as I would rather have a replacement as I do want this monitor, but how do I get the same result?

Sorry been busy. I left a post on the customer service section of the forums and Bailey passed my details onto Acer, Acer phoned me a few hours later.

Don't get your hopes up too much with being in acer's hands guys, they are probably one of the worst companies to deal with :(

They phoned me about 3 hours after OcUK passed my details on, had an email shortly after saying the destributor had no stock so he had purchased one for me from an online store. Once he receives the monitor he will courier it to me.

I thought that was pretty good service so far.

I left my details about 11ish this morning, not heard anything yet, I'll have to make sure I play games that don't involve night time scenes for the weekend, lol.

I phoned Acer and their CS was terrible. I didn't buy from OCUK so wasn't expecting the on-site solutions but their way of dealing with returns was poor. Send back, Acer take 5-7 to test the monitor and will send out either the monitor repaired or a new/refurb model.

RMA'd with retailer instead, hopefully have a new screen by Wed/Thurs next week.

Got my 2nd one today (ordered elsewhere) and will also be going back. This one has a single dead pixel which I can live with, but appears to have some actual dirt under the panel which is pretty disappointing.

In some ways I feel sorry for OCUK, they placed an order for a few hundred monitors that looked amazing on paper albeit from a company without a matching reputation.
Just like them, I had my cash ready for one of these.
But, as the days went by, Gibbo + co must have been wishing they could cancel as reports of the exact issues described here spread across the grapevine.
They knew they had a bunch of duff monitors coming and to be fair have made arrangements accordingly.

Acer created the mess, OCUK have to clean it up and that is how they will ultimately be scored by customers.

I am however surprised that they are still on sale here.

The stupid thing is that these issues aren't problems with the design , the panel or any hardware aspect. Its all just down to dreadful assembly and non existent quality control it's that simple. Iv'e gone on the list for a replacement and given them the benefit of the doubt, however if their not being checked and its still poor its going back for a refund.

I understand that all ips monitors have a certain amount of back light bleed , i have a U2713HM and that exhibits a little back light bleed but its not at all distracting , the amount that the Acer has is taking the **** and i don't care what anyone says, i would never ever put up with dead or stuck pixels on a brand new monitor of this price bracket.

I'm sorry but why are so many people defending acer here. It's a £700 monitor that leaves you feel nothing but disappointment, regret and worry you just lost 25% of your £700 "gamble". I just purchased 2 GTX 980s for near enough a grand and couldn't be happier because they do what they say they do. This monitor does not. Please don't defend them. I've been worriing about this all day as mine got delivered with a huge hole in the box (no outer packaging) to the point where I'm going to drive down to OCUK to make sure it doesn't get further damaged all for potentially only 75% of my money back. This is disgraceful.

Good post but it could be worth pointing out that those who've said they have no problems just haven't noticed or went looking for it. Or they aren't as picky and have more tolerance to it.

What's fine for one person isn't for another. There's also the fact that multiple people have mentioned theirs getting worse after usage.

Not true for me. If you follow my posts in early April, I got one from Europe and returned it for issues. I got one from OcUK now and I'm very happy with it. The backlight bleeding on this one is even lower than my Dell U2515H. I may be lucky to have got a good unit, but you can't say I haven't looked or am not picky.

Having read the last page or so of this thread, I was considering cancelling my return to ocuk under CCR, to using the Acer swap out service, but I genuinely have little or no faith in this company to produce a quality item. I don't want to risk wasting any more time and being disappointed. Its absolutely ridiculous that we should have to gamble with almost £700 of our money.
