Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

Same. I could put up with it for a few hundred quid - but these monitors are going for crazy money. Why accept bleed worse than monitors available years back?

What we are making clear is that IPS panels do suffer IPS glow and unfortunately now also seem to feature minor backlight bleed as standard of which does not bother some users but to some is un-acceptable. Of course which we will take back, but it's not a fault...

I don't accept that. First of all, if something is "suffering" with something, by definition it's a "fault". Second, semantics aside, this has become a totally unacceptable situation with monitors and is a VERY slippery slope. If the technology doesn't work properly, then it should NOT be sold, simple as that. I shudder to think what the situation will be with the upcoming Acer Predator XR341CK... a £1K monitor with guaranteed bleed and glow faults... sorry, I guess we should be calling them "disabilities" now, no discrimination after all. Monitors with bleed and glow should be treated no different to other able bodied monitors! Utterly ridiculous. :(

Once again I'd like to point out that my cheaper Asus monitor with the same size and resolution is fine, not perfect, but not even close to how bad this Acer is, looks like I'm out, refund from OC, if you think I just changed my mind on this your wrong, I've been waiting years for this, it's a whole months pay, I'm just going to have to wait longer still.

I have just sent OcUK a Webnote that I want to return it under CCR. I will probably sit on the money for the time being and perhaps consider purchasing another one later on in hope of one with less backlight bleed or a different screen if a better one is released.

While I agree IPs glow is inherent in the technology, backlight bleed is something people shouldn't have to put up with or accept.

If some screens can be fine, and others not, it points to some rubbish manufacturing in my opinion.

It's one thing I find utterly beautiful on my Philips 40 inch. Not a lick of bleed.

I could put up with a little bleed, but I find it very, very distracting. Like when I tried the 34um95. Bottom left corner bled, and my eyes just kept getting drawn to it in games.

I'm not really surprised an acer has issues. Have always considered them to be a real budget brand. Granted this monitor does not have a budget price... But still appears done on the cheap.

Unfortunately though, 99% of people probably won't care or don't even notice. So people will still keep buying in droves.

First time I've used this monitor at night, was playing Alien : Isolation and my eye kept getting drawn to the bottom right of the Screen. Would like people's opinion if this level of backlight bleed is acceptable.

The bottom right of the second image should be black. Gibbo/Bailey is this deemed an acceptable level of bleed?. Not sure what to do now :(

edit: the screen is only at 24% brightness and noticed 2nd pic had a swear word in it :p

Just wondering if OcUK would RMA it or I would have to contact Acer myself which is something I would rather avoid given their reputation for customer service.

Got this monitor delivered today, certainly very awesome, got one with no defects, coming from 60Hz and No G-Sync the difference is amazing but at the same time I'm missing using my 21:9 1440p Ultrawide, the Acer feels small in comparison, so I might be returning it, not sure yet.

My old HP 2475W purchased from Ocuk in 2009 had no bleed either and still doesn't 6 years later. You would expect skill, technical design and quality therein to improve over time, not diminish.

I've got one of these HP monitors too, it's IPS and there is no pressure bleed in the corners at all like these ACER displays. I'm considering taking mine back too as it sounds like ACER are aware of the issue otherwise they would never have agreed to the in home swap out service.

Here is a picture of what mine looks like, it's perfect pixel wise, just not happy with the bleed caused by a bad chassis.

Well that's me get my HP ZR24w hooked up again and the Acer XB270HU ready for packing
back in its box for return to OcUK once they have issued me a RMA number.

I have backlight bleed very similar to the screenshots in the post below.

With the brightness set at 24, I am seeing very similar backlight bleed to the last
screenshot in the post I have linked to above.

Hello Gibbo,

Would this kind of bleed be accepted by the Acer direct swap out service that OcUK are
making customers aware of when contacting them or would I probably have to send the
screen to OcUK for a full refund instead because the bleed not being aggressive enough?

If it would be accepted, how would I go about arranging the Acer direct swap out service?
