** Acme [Akagi] bought a pink estate car - E30 325i project log! **

It probably does, your astra isn't nearing 3 decades old with 200K on the clock. :D

You are right about spending more time fiddling with the car, but not when its dark and freezing cold outside. :D

Aye do as you wish. I've wasted thousands on messing with cars when I could have had far nicer cars thinking back but I'd have been bored.

Some people like their Luxobarges, some people don't really find any interest with that but why the Luxobarge brigade tell others what is right and wrong on here... why? Do you rule the world? No. Let people do as they wish, if they earn their own money, let them waste their own money. Especially those like Acme, as I think over the years no matter what anyone says, he will go against it and do his own thing :D I am guilty of it but I don't post as much on here as of late due to the constant negativity! Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy having a read on here though and there are wonderful cars of all ages and types on here which I like to see. However, it's all well and good saying Acme will never change... the one's saying that will never change either.

Perhaps the lesson to be learnt is spend less time talking on here and more time enjoying what you want to do with the car :)

And I still bet my Astra drives nicer ;) :p

Motors being negative? Never.

ACME don't worry about it, Motors has always been like this.

It was, and the headers and X pipe. Foglights from the other day, but included because shiny shiny. Valance is still in the boot of the car... :p

I also went to get two new keys cut at Timpsons. The guy there was very nice, complimented the car etc, but didn't have a clue really. We couldn't get the one he cut to work, so he didn't charge me for it. Taking it, and my remaining spare blank to a "proper" locksmith tomorrow. :)

Need to get the new valance painted before its worth fitting the foglights, because they will both be fitted at the same time, and the manifold will require some 'adjustment' of the exhaust first, but that can hopefully be done fairly soon!

Steering wheel can definitely go on. Hopefully tomorrow. :)

This is just the latest fad surely, you'll get bored and move onto the next cool scene thing and all that money will have been wasted. Yesterday it was all about Toyota and VVTLi now its all about mad tyte drifting yo and two-way radio conversations about how annoying it is that E90's don't have an LSD. Tomorrow it'll be something completely different..

What's it to you? The kid's young, he's having fun, leave him to it. Fad, not fad, dedication, passing wind, whatever, if he enjoys it then fair play to him.

When you're young you do dumb things. I have in the past when it's come to car purchases. Well two car purchases. Mainly hondas but I won't repeat myself as we all know what happened.

Let Acme enjoy it tbh. I know a guy who's had 24 e46's.

Looking good! My first BMW in 1995 was a 2 door E30 318i and seeing that inside brings back some memories. I would have loved a 325i but insurance costs back then were crazy. I hope you keep this one.

Thanks. :) I plan on keeping this one. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan!

After taking that picture I re-positioned the immobiliser box backwards a bit and spliced and tidied some of the wires coming out of it, which allowed me to finally fit the lower dash piece:

Those aren't screws holding it on, they are the middle parts from Mazda trim push-clips! Worked perfectly.

The headlight angle adjuster is obviously not connected to anything because the chances of the hydraulic system working are basically nil. I may attempt to get it working one day. :p

For a second I thought that meant you had a 4 spoke for sale, boo. :/

I've stalled a bit on mine while I sort out the workshop and garage as I have too many bits of car sitting around the car to do any meaningful cutting/welding without worrying about melting something/setting something on fire. Shall be on it after tomorrow tho, I want to get it on the road within a couple of months.

Yours is looking good, ignore the bull about the rust.

Steering wheel! My old one had one and for some reason I like them.

No log as such, I will get some pics on the 'what did you do today' thread when I start adding things back to the car instead of ripping stuff off.

A mate of mine had a grey 325i Touring on coilovers running nitrous. Thing looked completely badass.

I ran about in a chrome bumper 320i for a few months, it was hilarious but due to the progressive/lazy nature of the straight 6 you had to coax it you slide with a bit of clutch abuse. Once it was going though....

I used to drive it home from work at 1am across the mountain, there was one section that was arrow straight but full of crests and yumps. If you kept it flat you could, hypothetically of course, be doubling the posted limit for that road by the end of it. Always remember the rear end bottoming out after the crests, sending showers of sparks behind that I could see in the mirror. Miss those times!

Awesome stuff Lopéz :D

I love chromie E30's... I would quite like to replace my bumpers and window surrounds with chrome ones, but you can't get all the bits for the window trims as they never made chrome tourings... Though I'm still not entirely deterred. It would certainly look a bit different. :)

Your mountain escapades sound fun, if a little unsafe! ;) :p

On another note, I got home just now and decided to try and diagnose the wind noise from behind my head.

After a while of poking and prodding at the front and rear door seals and fiddling with things and checking the doors were properly aligned, I discovered the source...

The rear passenger window wasn't wound all the way up... Proper facepalm moment. :o
