Age of Conan

is this like unique armors with loads of bonuses ? u get them in pvp mini games or just by pvping ?

Tbh no one knows much about them. I think this is literally the first thing relating to PvP armor we've been shown. Funcom are going to update us soon on how we get them and I believe each class has their own individual set.

i'm at that stage too - got bored of dieing in the egliopian mountains and killing the same stuff, i'm only 1 bar from 53 but i started playing an alt instead.

NPC
Field of the Dead: The dusk wolf pack has developed an aversion for bridges, and has changed hunting grounds.
Waudreen has been resupplied with an ample amount of armor.
The Champion of the Honorguard now uses its correct abilities again.
Toirdealbach's reset behaviour has been fixed.
Wulfere has lost his overly large belly, and gotten a head that is the same color as his body
Sergeant Vargus and his troopers have gotten a visual overhaul
Obenathis got a visual update
Fixed so the Axeman play they're animation when they get back up.
City of Tortage: The Town crier has realised he is not Cimmerian. He is Stygian. So he can, in fact, cry... and he now will.
Conalls Valley: Hydallan has had a potential dialogue loop fixed.
Conall's Valley: Kinkaid's dialogue has been tweaked.
Pyramid of the Ancient: Pashi dialogue updated.
Captain Mycus's dialogue has been updated to reflect his new career as a wagoner.
Alyssa in the Thirsty Dog Inn has had a false level warning removed.
Stygian Soldiers in Khopshef now correctly attack the wolves when they are out hunting.

Tradeskills
Gemmed items should now work (giving bonuses) and viewing them should no longer crash the client.

Playfields
You should no longer get stuck in Renton's House.
There should no rain and lightning in Toirdelbach's Tomb now

General
Combat-dodge animations updated for both Male and Female characters. Females now seem faster when dodging.
Victim of "I eat your heart" will not fall into the attacker's mesh anymore.
Picts will no longer raise their eyebrows at people after having been killed by a fatality
Players should now use proper animations when interacting with items while swimming.
Players should now have a correct landing animation when jumping.
Character Creation: Avatars can no longer be rotated after selecting enter game.
Doing a fatality will no longer cause your character to increase in size.
Polearm fatalities now collide with the victim properly and show more blood
More client and server crashes resolved.

Socketing appears to be fixed! Let's hope it's true this time.

"Picts will no longer raise their eyebrows at people after having been killed by a fatality"

That has got to be the best patch note, ever :D

Mondays patch introduced a bug that turns trees low quality or invisible unless you enable remove foliage around the player, which then makes them high quality and visible but all fullbright with no lighting effects applied to them, so since monday anywhere in this game with trees (just about everywhere) has looked pretty strange. Thursdays hasn't fixed that and has introduced a couple more which are all now happily grating away at me... I would rather thursdays patch be a mop up for bugs caused in mondays rather than a completely different bug causing affair.

I love this game - I'm still soloing mainly on Dagon but think that this will turn out to be something special once the kinks have been ironed out. The lore of Conan is truly a wonderful and relatively untapped resource. I hope that AoC doesnt attract all the kiddies from WoW so that it can remain less maintstream (altho I've no doubt the publishers can only dream to achieve the financial success WoW has achieved).

Currently playing with gfx on full and loving it to the max. Period. I do feel bad for the few that have experienced hardware compatibility issues because this really is lovely with all the bells and whistles.

At what point are people starting to group up? The social aspect is the next part I want to try and get more involved in altho I salute the ability to advance so far purely by soloing. Has anyone tried the PVP aspect yet and what are the thoughts of it? I still haven't even gone to a bar yet to get drunk and join in a bar brawl!!

I've been grouping since Level 20, there's a couple of quests in Conalls Valley which you can't solo. Mayhem in the Fortress and Dirge for the Dead are 2 off the top of my head.

Never experienced that and haven't heard much about that bug either. Sounds irritating though :(.

It will be there, its the low quality distance slider and the remove foliage around the player settings which seem to be the only two settings relating. Setting the slider anywhere between 0-2047m will have the trees all looking really blurred, setting its to its max, 2048m and all the foliage is invisible. Only ticking remove foliage around player lets you have high quality, visible, foliage... but then none of the lighting properly effects them and they all appear bright, which you will notice much more in fogged zones or during the night / morning time when it stands out more. If you have your AoC patched since monday you will have this bug. There were a few threads on it, but they seem to have been swept aside with the weight of all the other problems people are having, so I guess the fix for it will just appear over the next few weeks.

oh and just went to fields of the dead, 100 new mobs for the win, shame they put so many bugged ones in. I'm getting the impression the next few patches are just going to be untested tripe throwing as many changes in as possible to be fixed by later "major" patches.

An amazing reception on this game from this very thread.

I was wondering though, as a World of Warcraft player, how does this compare? I'm aware that this games content isn't complete.

Rather than another 20 threads of debate/arguing, heres a link to the last comparison thread.

(excuse the use of the IP addy, I use it to get round the filter here at work :D )

So is this game worth buying then? I was holding off getting it right at the beginning to avoid the early launch bugs and stuff. I am still hearing that it's incomplete which is putting me off. Should I give it another few months before I decide to buy it to see what happens with the game or just go for it now?

IMO you should buy it, you get first month free so its worth a go, I am really enjoying the experience at the mo and they are adding new quests all the time to stop the grinding at higher levels

Depends on what yir wanting from the game, im more for the pvp side but...
The PvP is kinda pointless and dull atm, they need a murder system with risk Vrs reward stuff tied in to killing people.

Loot should be dropped to the floor upon death which would be the reward for taking the risk of killing someone.

All this FFA pvp is just crap, this is the first time ever an MMO has made me bored of player killing. :/

UO-R rule set would be the route to go down.
