Age of Conan

I dont think so yet, though the quests seem better guided than WoW to me, it always shows where exactly you are to go.

In WoW i was sometimes at a loss without Thotbot. :o

Aye the quests are very well described, though I hope there's some more puzzley type of things as well.

Certainly none of the collect 10 of x from y then forget to tell you where the y are (or even worse only y in a specific location drop them).

I loved the 'go destroy all there huts one', then you actually got to go attack the huts :D

jeez, my heart stopped beating for a min, i went to log in a it showed my Dark templar at level 14 though i was level 17 when servers went down.

In game it was level 17 .. phew. I really didnt want to get those 40 crocodile skins agian.

Collecting 40 crocodile skins was a pain though. Totally overcamped.

I'm really getting into the hype of this game.

The character creation/customisation, the combat-system, the different and interesting classes, city-building and sieges etc... awesome.

Just as a completely noobish and uninformed question: On a PvE server can the city-sieges and large-scale raids still take place? Or is it purely confined to a few large 'outdoor battleground' style areas? I think the PvP in this game is really the selling point of it; you can find PvE in numerous other games, and so thus I'm really interested on the differences between server rules and gametypes.

Thanks!

Just do the nighttime quests, they give much more XP. Plus they're better cause the Tortage part of the game was originally designed exclusively around them - the rest of the stuff was added in afterwards cause FC thought people wanted to play with other people(whereas what tehy mostly want to do is solo in the midst of other people whom they don't talk to... )

That sounds a bit confusing, I don't know who you were talking to... Player Cities (which you build as a guild) CAN'T be attacked by other players. (they were gonna have a feature where NPCs come and attack them, but I'm not sure if that made it in)

What I think you're talking about is Battlekeeps, which guilds can besiege and steal from each other. There's 9 battlekeeps per server and they're not instanced, and they're all in an area called the Border Kingdoms, which is free-for-all pvp (except you can't kill your guildies). They're completely separate from guild cities, although you need to own a guild city before you're allowed to capture a battlekeep.

This is the same both on pvp and pve servers - the only difference is that on pvp servers all the pve questing areas are ALSO free-for-all.

One of the best things i have liked about the game so far is the quest tracking, i can change quests just by clicking on the arrows on the minimap or large area map. No more going on a website to look for coordinates.

Still enjoying this. Some big bonuses for me!

1) The quests are shown on the map in both locations of the quest and the return location of the said quest giver, making finding things much more straightforward,
2) You can dodge attacks by moving out the way  no more hoping the stat number crunching works in your favour.
3) The in game graphics, cinematic story and game atmosphere are brill.

4) Its not WoW....it is imo a million miles from it. WoW is at the end of the day, about the grind and getting that item that gives you an extra +1 stat boost etc etc. This isn't going to be by the looks of it.
5) Your combat in AOC heavily depends on your skill much like a 3rd person (e.g. Oblivion) or FPS game.
6) There are loading times between instance zones, but these take a few seconds if that on a E2180 C2D and 2GB ram.

Some pics of the starting area town. These are off my 32" HD tv @ 1360 X 768 all maxed (30-60fps). Playing this on the TV takes the game to another level over my monitor.
