Age of Conan

I like the way that people who pre-order the game to get early access then have to pay another $5/5 Euro's for the privilige.

Nice way of rewarding the early adopters and certainly means that I won't be pre-ordering this game and will now wait and read user reviews once it's been released.

I don't mind that at all tbh. I get to start at the very beginning and get 10 days of play time for that $5. cheap price to pay imo.

No, I'm not particularly bothered about getting into the beta, that would just be an added bonus.

Perhaps I do need to chill, but I don't like the fact that people are told not to reveal information, yet they do it anyway. I don't understand why they can't just keep it to themselves.

It's annoying when you see those who will keep it to themselves miss out on the opportunity to participate.

Possibly. But if they can't handle a simple task as "keep it to yourself", then what other areas are they unable to perform in?

How about because this isn't just a forum, it's a community? I don't think there has been anything detrimental to the game posted in this thread, 99% of it is positive.

At the end of the day its a game not some multi national corporation business deal.

I would say they would be able to perform perfectly well in other areas.. if I am at work and someone tells me to keep something to myself, but I go and tell my wife and friends about it..that doesnt mean that I am unable to perform at work in my job, or unable to drive my car, or unable to do any DIY.

"Keeping something to yourself" is in no way relative to someones ability to do something. It could possibly be used as an example that when someone is very excited about something, they have difficulty in holding it in...that perhaps they like to gossip...but its definately no indication that they cant do their job

Regardless of how positive it is or negative it is, it is still a breaking of the NDA that one had to accept before taking part in the beta.

Indeed, you're right that it is highly likely that it doesn't affect things that are unrelated. To use your example, let's say someone at work tells you something important to them. something that they don't want others to talk about, something they've confided in you, and then you go and spew it to your wife and friends. Now, arguably, that doesn't mean you can't perform other tasks, but it does shine a negative light on the person, and their ability to perform similar tasks.

Same goes for the FC-Eidos debacle over UK preorders and CEs. Now, arguably, the fact that they seem to be incapable of sorting it out, or at the very least responding to the community doesn't mean they'll make a bad game, or whatever - but it doesn't instill one with confidence over their performance in other areas. If they can't get their heads out of the sand and sort this out, why should we be confident that if any other problems or incidents arise that they won't simply bury their heads in the sand and obfuscate the situation?

Yes it is breaking the NDA. I think we're all aware of that and don't need it pointed out to us every two seconds. If you feel so strongly about it go and report us instead of nagging us about something that we are already very clear on what we are doing.

I just got an email from Funcom telling me that different retailers are offering different in game items for ordering AoC from them, but doesn't specify other than telling me to go to the age of conan website, which I can't do at work.

Anyone shed any light?

You're right, I could do, but I'd rather alert you to it so that you can change it, alter your posts. But hey, like you said, you're clear on what you're doing, so I won't deliberate on it further.

Well that person at work should know me better , they should know that I tell my wife everything. I consider it a basis of a good relationship.

Taking AoC for example..if I am not allowed to tell anyone that I am in Beta, or indeed show anyone my beta...how does that work with my wife? Am I unable to tell my own wife that I am in AoC beta, what do I do if she enters the room while I am playing, turn the screen off? Shout at her that she must exit the room immediately because she isnt authorised to see whats on my screen. :)

That would sure be funny. :D

Actually, if you bothered to read threads before posting rubbish like this, you'd see that I'm actually trying to have a civil conversation, so you can run along now.

You should totally do this.

You make a good point though - but I suppose telling someone close to you, who is unlikely to go around spreading whatever information you're privy to could be considered as acceptable. I don't know.

And you're right, it is quite clear that there's going to be a certain extent of NDA-breakage with public betas, but then they are aware of it and have been banning accounts and the like throughout the past day or so.

What class are people going for? And will they be tanking, DPS or healing?

I'm not so sure at the moment. I like the sound of the Conqueror, but I'll probably have a hand at a spellcaster class, maybe a Demonologist. I tend to neglect spell-classes, so it might be interesting to try something new.

I can't believe how uptight you are about this whole NDA thing. It's really pathetic. Don't you have anything better to do?

I'm curious as to why you quoted that, as I was essentially agreeing with you about it being funny.

I don't think I'm being uptight at all, I'm just pointing out things, and when people respond meaningfully, such as Tombstone is, I care to reply in the same manner.
