Age of Conan

I'm very disappointed in this game thus far. It's a very unengaging, unfinished and rushed game.

For a game that's been in development for 5 years, they sure have left a lot of elements out that have existed in games for the last 2-3 years.

-The worst UI i think i've ever seen, MASSIVE buttons, terrible group/party UI, can't see debuffs on yourself too great, the Pet UI and mechanics are just horrific. The Chat is just... /sigh, you can't change font colours and it's hard on the eyes the font they used.

- Terrible quest log.

- Everything is instanced, so your mate might be standing in front of you but you can't see him.

- Combat is clunky.

- Feat descriptions make you think "eh???" sometimes :D

- Inventory is pants... although seperate inventory for quest items is good.

- Necromancers are pants, how can a game make a necromancer, the coolest class ever, crap?!

These are a few things off the top of my head that make me sad about this game :(

And people who say, "well it's only just come out, give it a chance" don't really hold any weight regarding the issues. These are things that have been implemented well in other games, and if they took the time to look at these games, and yes... WoW. Maybe they'd have produced something of a higher quality.

I hope it gets improved, i really do, but why release a game that's not been finished, quite clearly?

/end of rant

On a positive note... The servers are good :)

Youve obviously not got up to level 60 or above or you would be complaining about the total lack of quests and mobs to grind, i dont know what the hell is going to happen when the main bulk of people get this high. My level 78 friend says theres 3 viable camps to grind at his level and theres not enough mobs with just 3 people in the instance. 2.7mil xp, arround 2k per mob, you do the math.... its an epic grind.

Screw the servers they just went down for 4 hours.

Character interaction is terrible, It should have more a wow style communication and interaction with others, but Im sure that would lead to many "criticism" from the OMG they copied wow geek type people.

Level 21 now and quite like the game..

If you made a suggestion on the beta forum about anything that worked in wow, you got 3-4 pages of people flaming you because you played wow and that AoC isn't wow and wont be turned into wow.

I thought as much, because AOC really is found wanting.

Oh well time to see if servers are back up...

Anyone on the Soulstorm server wanting a guild, let me know
I'll be online pretty much the entire day, playing as Vengance.
Guild name is " Death by SnooSnoo "

p.s. if you dont get the name.. go watch futurama :p

I'm quite taken with the game, despite the awful UI. The graphics are amazing, and much, much more detailed than any other mmo I've played. The voice acting is really good (looking at you, EQ2) and it has tons of atmosphere. Character classes look nice and complex (although initially you don't see this, everyone starts off pretty much the same). I thought playing through Tortage more than twice would be soul destroying, but the destiny quests are different depending on your archetype, and I keep discovering things I'd missed last time round.

To be honest, anyone who's level 70 already is just racing and not stopping to enjoy what the game has to offer. The guys at Funcom quite obviously love the subject matter, it shows in the quests, the environments and the atmosphere.

You do have to wonder what the hell they were thinking with the UI though. Good lord, it's like the last 5 years in mmo design never happened.

Im still on the starting island I will be about level 22 when I leave there. Im doing every quest and taking my time, in wow I raced to 60 then spent donkeys years waiting on everyone else to get get there before I could do anything meaningfull. Never again will I rush to max level in any game, the content will be there by the time I get there.

Just been checking the Conan forums, and wow, their is a lot of issues with the demonologist class and i thought it was only me, Spells are weak, some spells are completely useeless and serve no purpose, new ranks hardly have any damage increase and only a large mana increase, Pet doesnt do any damage worth considering even with the feat tree used to increase its spell potency by 50% etc.

I could moan all day, i hope they fix all these issues, its really getting on my nerves now. I thought i was going to be mighty, but things have gotten a lot tougher since 36 and finding myself dying because 2 mobs are on me.

Tell him to get a life, what a ***hat. To get that far there is no way he enjoyed the quests in Tortage or the areas after, just stayed up for several days after early access and rushed around.

In every MMO released they have not had the top lvl quests completed in release month because generally no one is up there.

My only complaint with the game is they dont make it obvious who murderers are. On the PvP servers they need the colour class system harking back to Ultima Online.

People who regularly and for no apparent reason (not guild war etc) kill others needs to have their name appear in red or have some kind of icon to signify this.

If someone is "Red" then they should be banned from cities. But I guess the flaw here is that to travel between places you usually go into town and click on an instance exit.

The instancing is pretty game soul destroying, I am hoping the guild towns and sieges are going to make up for it.

To be fair m8 saying "look at wow" or even other games misses the point that most other popular mmo's have been out for anything up to 5 years. When wow went live it had buggy feats with hopeless descriptions, lack of quests, etc, etc.
