Sometimes I feel like I am getting too old to still be gaming. While I have always been a casual PC gamer, I am becoming a rather heavy console gamer (in comparison to my pc usage).

Me I am 30, currently spending at least a couple of hours a day (much more on weekends) playing, mostly on my 360, with a bit on PC.

So I was just wondering how old you guys/girls are, how much time you devote to gaming, and what formats you play on.

I'm 35, been gaming since the Atari 2600. Do most of my gaming now on a 360. I don't think I'll ever stop.

Fwiw, a few years back IBM did some sort of gaming survey, and the current average age of a gamer was 31. I'm pretty sure 5 or 10 years ago that age would have been a lot younger.

What can we deduce from this? My guess is that generally, people who became gamers have stayed gamers, therefore pushing that average age up year after year. If the average age of a gamer is 31, they probably started around the time of the C64/Speccy era.

i have a customer who is 66 and is heavily into pc gaming, buys all the latest games and has installed at any one time 15 or so games , which he likes to dip in and out of..

cod4 is his fav at mo.

Im 22, play a fair bit (I suppose you'd call me a hardcore gamer) I dont play online a great amount. Mostly a 360 gamer now but i still dabble with pc gaming.

39yr old here, have all 3 main consoles, psp, and ds handhelds, owned nearly every console ever released and in most cases more than one of each console through its lifespan, spent a fortune if i think about it, and will probably do so until i die. Also having 2 boys 16yrs and 12yrs who are both into gaming helps.

and a very understandable wife of 17yrs marriage, lol

I'll be 30 next month and I still really enjoy my gaming. I'm definitely not a hardcore gamer, I just enjoy the games. I mainly play my 360 but my PC gets a good session now and again. It's my DS that gets most the attention but thats due to my job more than anything else.

36 years old and have a PS3, Gaming PC and a PSP. Still play quite a lot all though not as often as I would like to :(

I'm 33 and spend far too much time playing games on my PC, 360 and PS3.

A spritely 35 who has just moved from PC to console gaming.

I was a huge Amiga fan started with a VIC20, C64, C128, Amiga then the Amiga CD32 (which I still have).

Just after that apple came then windows and the game was over.

Stopped for ages then picked up a PC around 2001 to play MOHAA. Went through all the COD series with a nice group of friends. Moved to consoles last DEC now have 360 and PS3. Armchair gaming is more confortable.

Still miss the PC games though and will load up MOHAA and COD4 now and again.

I now have a 2 year old son who I dont want playing consoles so I get about 30 minutes per night.... :(

As mentioned before those who game keep gaming and its no longer simply kiddie entertainment. Probably something more parents should wise up to when they allow kids to buy any games they want despite age warnings on the back.

I'm only a a young 29 compared to some in here but I cant see a time where I wont enjoy the odd hour at least on console or pc. Even if sometimes they have to take a back seat due to real life commitments.

33 year old, started gaming on the zx81 26 or so years ago, in the early days it was mostly just kids about my age playing games on the TV in the bedroom. It seems like many of those people who grew up playing consoles in the early years have kept with it and seem to be even though i hate the word "hardcore" gamers. Consoles have now grown from being a "toy" for the kids to play on, to the media hub of the household (in the PS3/360 case anyway), seems like the consoles have grown up with the people they introduced to gaming in the early 80's.

37 in May - had an atari (2000? I think) with pong and a couple of other carts as a family christmas present in the 80's when they were new

Progressed to ZX81, BBC (mainly text adventures I seem to recall), Speccy 48k , Speccy128 (+2 also) before moving onto PC's about 16 years ago

I personally think the majority of PC games are pretty boring (COD etc arent for me) but during all that time I have usually had at least one console on the go also and several handhelds

Game and Watch (single and dual screen kong's to name one - those where the days lol) , original PS, PS2, PS3, Nintendo64, Xbox, X360, wii ,Gameboy , Gameboy colour, PSP and I seem to recall another Nintendo at some point just cant remember what it was called lol

I just find dipping into a console game a lot easier, and not to mention that I work with PC's all day long (Server and Desktop techie) so the last thing I want to do is use a pc when I get home lol

26, started with a Spectrum. Also had an Amiga, Game Gear, Gameboy, N64, PC... Sacked off the PC gaming at the moment and focussing on the Wii and DS.

I can't imagine giving it up any time soon!

i'm 35 and the only reason I don't play more is that i have to look after my little girl.

the wife works wed, thur fri evenings so I play then for 2-3 hours per night

cod4pc all the time for the last 4 months but may change when i get gta for my 360

my wife is 34 and plays her ds a lot. mainly brain training although i'm not convinced it works properly
