AI War: Fleet Command

I know what you mean. I've seen some good things come from this 1.6Ghz Atom so far though, so I have a feeling it may be able to cope 'okay' with it.

The problem is, I cannot even launch it - double clicking the shortcut brings up a dialog box saying that 'the minimum resolution is 1024 x 768'.

Okay, a new version is now out, and one of the many (many, many) features in this one is that it will allow down to 1024x600. Hope it does well for you on that netbook!

I've just bought the game on Impulse (now its up and working again), but I've just booted the game up for the first time and its saying I've only got a trial verson on need to regester with a key? Problem is I dont seem to of been emailed a key from impulse to unlock the full game?

Thanks for your support! The purchase email from Impulse always includes the license keys that you buy from them. If you don't have that handy, you can right-click the game in Impulse and hit "View Registration" to see it there.

Done and thanks for that, will give me feedback on what I think :)

x4000, did you put res > 1024 x 600 (as opposed to >=)?

Have installed your patch, but when I try and run it, I get an error again saying that the screen res much be at least 1024 x 600, which it is.

Don't worry about it too much, my main pc should be fixed later.

Hmm, that is very strange -- it is checking ( primScreen.Width < 1024 || primScreen.Height < 600 ) and throwing an error if that's not the case. I suppose I'll just take that check out in general, if people want to try the game on smaller games then I guess why not. I'll post a link when the next prerelease is out, shortly.

I'm no programmer but i'd read that coding as being greater than 600 and less than 1024 - so a 1024x600 screen would fail the check :)

It says "if width less than 1024 or if height less than 600, then fail." So the logic is good, I think, it just makes me wonder if maybe it's not 1024 wide somehow or something. Very strange.

Oh, I gotcha -- yeah, that was the logic for if it should throw up the message and exit, not the logic for whether to run the game or not. :)

Well, I had a download and run through the trial and the game wasn't for me, but it's an impressive piece of work :)

Thanks for the note! This game, like any other RTS, surely won't please everyone, but I'm glad you gave it a go and thought it was cool, if not for you.

In all fairness to your project (which I'll say again, is an awesome piece of work considering you did most of it solo), I think it's more a case of me phasing in and out with RTS games - one month I'll play nothing but, the next I'll not go anywhere near them. If you would like specific comments, I'd be happy to run through them for you.

I'd love the comments anyway. 1.2 which is due out shortly has changed the game a lot. If it is gameplay issues it could be worth downloading that first. But I know Chris is very receptive to any feedback positive or negative

Hi,

Been playing the tutorial campaign for a bit and am loving it, I love games where there is tons to learn and you find out new tricks all the time.

I upgraded to the 1.201E beta btw.

I do have 2 comments/suggestions and if they are in the proper real game ignore me as I haven't gotten to that bit as i am still on tutorials. I play on 2 x 24" 1920x1200 resolution and its great but the minimap is tiny in the upper right, it would be awesome to have a larger one. Also it would be great to have the galaxy map on my second screen, but this is a wish more than anything and not a big thing.

Also when an enemy is attacking one of your planets you get the flashing warning at the bottom of the screen, it would be awesome if you could right click or something and be taken to the planet that is being attacked. If there are multiple planets then you could right click and be given a list of the planets and then left click the one u want to go to.

EDIT: Also just remembered when I am fully zoomed out it is very hard to see what units are selected or if you are trying to group ships together you can not see what you are selecting. I am sure in the original game you could see what you were selecting when zoomed all the way out.

left click the 'planet under attack' icon and you get a list of home planets under attack, just click the one you want to zone to.

you may have turned the ship view slider to far up so that you're just seeing the actual ships as opposed to the little icons you see normally, try turning that setting down again

Gotcha. Well, I'm always open to suggestions and feedback, but I have so much already that it's not like I'm hurting for more. ;) But if you have time and inclination, I'm around!
