Air Fryers

Still loving mine. Cooked bacon in it, burger patties, chips, crumbed fish, loads of other bits and they all came out great.

The smoke must've been a coating on it or something because the smoke is minimal now. Loving it, definitely a good buy :)

So these actually produce good results? Looks like that, based on the comments above. Do they keep the smell contained fairly well? That's the main drawback with the deep fat fryer we have... especially as our current place has an open plan living/dining/kitchen area.

There is no smell once you're done cooking. We simply give the basket and drawer thingy a clean (which is a doddle) and it's ready for use again. I know exactly what you mean with a deep fat fryer, this definitely isn't an issue with these.

I'm confused, half of the posts seem to be talking about actifry the rest airfryer, some dont say which.

What the difference , which ones good for what?

Depends what you're doing. I find the Actifry is good for chips and stir-fry mix/mash-ups with frozen food, but wings/drumsticks less so as the rotating spindle wrecks coatings/skin. I've ordered the airfryer in the hope with less movement means an intact wing with coatings (Lemon pepper rub etc.)

Sorry - mine is airfrier. Kids love it as they can just throw things in it safely, leave for 10 mins and it's done.

No hot ovens etc.

Does the Airfrier make good crispy chips then?

The Duronic looks good value on Amazon.

very decent - that's the one I have. Chip your spuds, soak them in a little water for 10 mins, drain, dry and put a tiny bit of oil on them (tea spoon of oil max), give them a shake in a bowl.

Bang them in the air fryer for around 10 mins - beautiful crispy chips.

Also for the record, frozen mccains oven chips take 10 mins and are way better than cooking in a standard oven if you want something quicker!

Bringing this thread back to life as I'm trying to decide between the Tefal / Philips and Duronic.

Seen the Actifry Plus for £99 which can cook 1.2kg so leaning towards that but put off by the comments of the paddle mashing up food and more importantly they seem to catch fire after about a year!

A lot of the fire comments are very old though so I hope that has been fixed.

We've got the Tefal one. It makes amazing chips.

No bonfires in the kitchen as yet, though we've not had it anywhere close to a year yet.

Duronic has been great for me. Kids can use it without the same fear as a large oven etc. Easy to open, chuck stuff in the basket and close again.
