Air fryers

I don't use my Ninja speedi anymore so fancied something else to go alongside my Ninja health grill, and this seemed to tick the right boxes..

Chicken fillet burger incoming :D

Edit

Can confirm it does a decent chicken burger (and bacon)..
That would be a nightmare coming home from the pub and trying to get a feed on the go mind.

Too many settings and variables. Looks good but.

TBH that is one of the reasons I started using an air fryer - I found one which you can just set temperature and time very simply - perfect off the end of a night shift or whatever when you just can't be bothered to figure it out. (It even has a handy cheat sheet printed on it for the most common foods).

My parents have somehow got 3 now, that they use.

We have a collection that all get used, sometimes at the same time and one that was to be sold is going back into use (Foodi)

Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer 11-in-1 Multicooker, 8L
Ninja Foodi MAX Health Grill & Air Fryer 5.7L with Digital Cooking Probe, 6-in-1, AG551UK
Ninja Speedi 10-in-1 Rapid Cooker, Air Fryer and Multi Cooker, 5.7L, Sea Salt Grey, ON400UK
Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer AF400UK
Dreo ChefMaker Combi Fryer, 5.7L

I was about to replace the range oven and hob with a single oven and hob, but the OH has agreed that we will not bother with the oven for now and will be happy with just a hob.

I think I am the only person in my work who doesnt have one. They even started a whip round to buy me one and I found out and said I would refuse. Yet another thing to stick on the countertop that I would use once in a blue moon for some chip and nuggets if I have had a few beers and the local "chew 'n' spew" shop is shut. Same with slow cookers, I just dont get it, everything tastes the same in them, just put an oven very low all day and it just tastes way better. Toastie makers are another one, just use a frying pan which you almost certainly already have!

I get they save on energy a bit but I would rather spend the few pence more and use an oven.

Nope.

I never bought one, I ended up being given one, I use it now and then it has some....... uses.

But for the space it takes up , it's going to live in the static caravan, and I'll be happy to see it go.

It's uses are so limited in my opinion, it's good for doing crap food really, sausages, fish fingers, breaded oven junk etc.

Most other things I already have a better alternative tool for.

It's also not really big enough for a family of 4.

The thing is basically like an electric grill (that is literally what it is) with a fan behind it. It cooks by convection.

If you can be bothered, you can use a BBQ to achieve a much better result.

For roasting things it isn't as good, the way the heat transfers in a oven is different.

I have 2 ovens and my top oven which I use most of the time uses 3kw which is the same as the air fryer, so aside from the 10 minutes heat up period, it's as efficient.

I know the backlash I'm going to get from this thread now :)

Can be used to supplement an oven but also good for 1 or 2 peeps.

My Duo Pot 11 in 1 with the steam lid is good for rice and chese cakes. With the fry lid can do a whole chicken. I use the Lakeland dual fryer for veg plus meat but yeah not for 4 people.

you are absolutely right apart from the grill bit. An airfyer is simply a small oven.

Which when people say things like pineapple upside down cake works well in an er… oven(!) one has to chuckle. Sorry giburrows didn’t mean to pick on you, you are just one of many.

A bit like woke we are starting to see a turning point and I think these tabletop ovens will start to die out or become car boot fodder.

My favourites are roasted baby potatoes and roasted veg and homemade chips come out great and faster than using the oven so I think it has it's place, also dual drawer is great game changer really

And soon to have a Breville....
It's on our watch list!

Saves a lot of money for me and far quicker.

Recently picked up a 4.7 litre single tray Ninja Foodie (supermarket promotion) and Herself has knocked out some top scran using it.

Very, very handy piece of kit; especially when it comes to chips etc. compared to our ancient fan assisted gas oven which takes ages to warm up and doesn’t cook evenly.
