Air fryers

Hi all,
So we are getting towards the point of replacing our trusty
air fryer. However, it seems the design which we like seems very hard to find these days. (That i can see after a quick hunt on amazon)
Can anyone advise if they have seen anywhere? Thank you in advance and sorry if im being even more blind :D

Is that one of those glass halogen ovens?

I've got one of those somewhere that has never been used. Bought it a while back as an impulse purchase with the intention of using it as a pizza oven (with a pizza stone) but then got a good deal on an actual pizza oven from Amazon Italy.

OK. Certainly looks like the halogen oven from that top view, as opposed to the typical sealed box air fryer design.
Sorry Badger, my reply probably seemed far shorter than i had intended.
No this was marketed and indeed from the URL does say air fryer, they seemed to be the first varieties you could get, it now seems the box style is the new style. But the first ones alwyas looked like motorcycle helmets.

Its so strange I just did a quick google image search and without looking too far, none exist like the one from my link. :)

caught a few bites of the channel five air fryer cooking show last night (looks like they are copying earlier jamey one) ...
making loaf cakes in it would be a useful function ... and need to watch it on catch-up to see which 2 draw machine the used to put such a big loaf tin in ?

I just watched the first 5 mins or so on catchup. After all the ads the first few minutes were just tik tok clips and filler. gave up :p

I'll see if I can get it on sky to FF through

ok it seems it was a ninja (couldn't remember downing street email address for login)

e: maybe I'd make space for a single drawer version of that if it exists - otherwise its a big lump of space

Didn't buy one last time there were offers on but have now had an offer through for the Ninja AF400 for £195 which seems to the lowest anywhere currently.

We did think about the 9-in-1 version but decided if we wanted the pressure cooking aspect (I.e. to part cook baked potatoes) then we would just use a stand-alone pressure cooker for that.

Any others I should be looking at apart from the Ninja dual drawer? I saw a few in Lakeland the other day which got me thinking about it again.

I got that one . AF400. .. just before they released the AF500 which would be more useful for me.

I commend this approach.

The main problem with an "all in one" solution is you can only cook one thing with it at a time. Whereas you can cook rice, stew, chilli, pasta etc. in the pressure/slow cooker at the same time as cooking chips, roast potatoes, garlic bread or whatever else you want to eat with it in the air fryer. I find that I never turn on the main oven any more. Without collecting actual data, I would say that to cook food I currently use:

The hob (mostly wok or frying pan, big stockpot for curries and occasionally a saucepan for something like mashed potato)
Air fryer (Ninja AF451)
Pressure Cooker (Instant Pot)
Microwave
Toaster
Pizza oven (Ferrari G3)

Pretty much the same here. Use the gas hob for frying pan (omelettes, scrambled eggs, fried eggs etc. ), wok (fried rice and stir fry) and saucepans (spuds for mash, baked beans and the like) but everything else is in the appliances.

Ninja AF400UK 9.5l dual zone
Microwave
Rice Cooker (picked that up earlier today and haven't used it yet)
Toaster
Blender

My wife and I have considered one before but never gone for it due to limited space in the kitchen, but after rearranging a couple of things and being given a £50 JL voucher we're looking at them again, we saw the AF100 recommended on the budget end of the spectrum, and has actually been reduced a tad at JL since last looking:

However I don't like the size/shape and would rather a more square unit with a flat top so we can place things on top if needed when not in use etc.
So I saw the AF140 (which at the time was only £10 or so more I think) which seemed to be a slightly bigger unit but has gone out of stock: https://www.johnlewis.com/ninja-af140-air-fryer-pro-black/p111796108

So is it worth just going for the AF100 or are other models worth it? I know lots of companies do them but have certainly hearda most positive things about Ninja.

It's probably fine. But to be honest size matters with air fryers and if I was going "cheap" I would buy a larger model from a budget brand.

JL also sell the Instant Vortex, which is a 3.8l capacity. I have the 5.7l version which I have no complaints with it at all. I did accidently break the handle (dropped it!) and bought a Ninja AF400 over black friday, but ended up keeping the instant as well for the single tray capacity.

I'd question though whether that 3.8l capacity will be large enough to feed 2 of you. Throw a few chips in there and there's no room for anything else. I'd be looking at a larger capacity.
