Airfix

Harrier looks awesome, me and the mrs' have just started building airfix models a few days ago. Built a 1:72 red arrow (started off small) and a mitsbuishi prop plane.

Will post pics, the arrow is in the process of being painted but will need a few more coats.

Thought I would share what I am currently working on as a combined project with my dad:

We are just at the point of cutting the formers out to build the skeleton of the hull. I will update as it progresses.

It's a 1:24 scale Wally 118 yacht so will be around 1.5m long. The plan is to scratch build it based on the Sketchup drawing I made using various photos online.

3 coats so far. Will pick out the panel lines around the doors / boot with pencil before the final gloss coat, and then chrome alclad the headlight surrounds.

On the homeward stretch now, although I need to adjust the shut lines around the bonnet :)

Well I've just bought a couple of 1/350 models to build over the coming months as and when I have a couple of hours of down time. I won't rush them as it's been a long time since I've built models of this quality but I found out one of the online stores is down the road from me so I phoned them up, went to their man cave and bought a pile of stuff. I have Trumpeter's HMS Hood and Revell's recently released Bismarck! I plan to create my own battle of Denmark straight, but this time Hood will sink Bismarck I've decided :)

Bought all the paints, cutting tools, mats, glues, pastes, tapes, cleaning stuff I need so I am all set. To be honest it took me all my strength not to spend significantly more!

That is just ridiculous pieman109, it's lovely work, superb really. I know it's not the first you've posted and I'm sure there are the obligatory questions about them so, how long did it take you?

I could never paint the models very good so i just used to put the transfers on and leave them grey. Luckily most of the jets i did were that colour in their painting lol

Pieman is stupendously good. Unfortunately my 3 year old got his hands on my built models :( I've only got a 1:24 Hurricane in good order now lol.. I noticed the smaller ones had made their way into his toy box....

Well Im buying up some airbrush bits before i buy my first airbrush at the end of the month. I normally use Humbrol Enamels paints for my plastic Gunpla models.

My question is for anyone that airbrushes are used Humbrol Enamels is is there any good alternative to the Humbrol Thinner, I used it a tiny bit with my brush painting but it’s quite expensive and ill be using lots more when i start airbrushing

I did do experiment with some off the shelf white spirit and i had some paint separation so that might not be a good option. Also some people say 1:1 humbrol paint and thinner and other say 1:2 paint and thinner. Or is the ration down to personal taste after a point?

I have a full bottle of Revell aqua colour mix thinner here if any airbrushers want it.

Just chuck us a pound for postage and it's yours. Normally about a fiver in the shops.
