Airsoft ??

Must get back into airsofting. Just havn't been able to find the time :( . But yeah the paint balling vs airsofting arguement has gone on for a very long time. Ive played both and they are both good in the own ways. Paintballing is good with a bunch of mates who havn't done anything similar to go to a forest and have a laugh for the day. Its fast paced and manic which some people prefer.

On the other hand, airsofting can be much more of sim (you can have fast games like paintballing) but generally its more about trying to re create something a lot of people will never experiance. Plus i recon you look a lot colour in miltary get up will something that looks like a gun (with all the gadget that you can get for guns) :p .

The honour system does work (well most of the time) as said before if people dont they get removed from site. What we tended to do if people wernt take shots was gang up in then in the field. It amazing when people decide to take there shots when they are being hit from all sides... in the face.

If Airsofting left any physical trace I'd like it more, guns were good & was theoretically better than paintballing but the both times I went it was a complete joke, people just weren't admitting to getting shot, even the regulars.

Was that at the same site?

I play most @ Xsite in High wycombe and they won't stand for cheating. The marshalls aren't omnipotent though, it requires players seeing it to id the individual and inform them.

I've also played at UCAP, Longmoore (a Hit takers event), Piddington training ground, the Mall in Reading and they all actively discourage cheating.

You can always make someone flinch by getting them in the fleshier parts i.e. inner thighs, under the vest, in the neck will make them flinch enough to acknowledge the hit.

I've seen really bad cheating at a lot of sites but it is individual players that do it. If you don't tell someone about it it doesn't get sorted!

So tell the marshalls and give the cheater another few rounds!

Likewise! This thread has reminded me I haven't played airsoft in years :(.

Airsoft paintballs ruin your gun, thats why nobody uses them. Cant beat a gas blowback pistol either.

Indeedy, altho you do have to be careful with which gas to use. My ex messed up his Desert Eagle using green gas (then again he was a muppet)

Like people have said earlier it is much more of an honour sport & if you count some of the cuts caused from some of the higher/mod'd airsoft guns that have a greater fps, then im sure we can count them as marks :p

Airsoft bb's + fingers (or ears)= ouchy :p

Maybe I should dig out my p90 and fit in a game or two this year (although I never did want a p90, it was always the m4a1 R.I.S that caught my attention! lol)

Always wanted a P90 but had some money at the time and went for a M4a1 with RIS system and a solid stock (Classic Army). Love the rails on it, got a fore grip, torch and red dot sight. Also got a MP7 for close quarter stuff and a trusty M1911 as back up :p

My housemate had a TM P90 and was always having probs with the high cap mags; wouldn't feed properly. You can get a magwell converter to take M4 mags but they were supposedly ropey too. TM have released the new M4A1 SOCOM with electronic blowback. Looks quite good, no RIS but that can be added.

I must admit, I've used a TM and a cheapy clone p90, and the hicaps were always a complete pig. Used the converstion a couple of times, then got rid because that wasn't really any better.
Although I'm happy with my m14, I would like an M4 or MP5, but never have the money available.

TBF a lot of high cap mags can be a bit iffy. I had the Tokyo Marui FN P90 TR, then upgraded with a Laylax (First Factory) Box Magazine for P90 Series so that m16 mags could be used. I it mod'd the rear of the gun (small hole for wiring) so that a large battery could be used :D

I've got an M16, M4 and a GR16 so armalite varients aren't a problem here :o.

the guys there are more serious than those who go paintballing

Why do you say that? :)

Im guessing most people think of paintballing as "running around the woods shooting paint at each other", when in actual fact thats only half of what Paintball really is.

Running around in woods shooting paint at each other = Woodsball.
Playing on a symmetrical field of bunkers with 5 v 5 = Sup air.

Sup air is more of the professional side of paintball as you win trophies and in the higher leagues such as PSP (US) and Millenium (Europe) you can win some nice cash :)

Both sell RIFs to those with a defense against the VCRA (Ukara or site membership). Can get some great deals there. They are also a great source of info for anything airsoft.

I've been looking at a TM M14 for my next one, not sure on the Socom or the full version. Need a DMR for times where i need a bit more range but sniping isn't my thing, Got 2 M4s; 1 G & P Defender (with JG internals, they wored out better as G&Ps are all about the body) and 1 CQB-R, oa G36C and a knackered old MP5 SD that needs burying. So much to buy, not enough time!
